The cold autumn air nipped at your fingers as you walked through the streets of New York.  Every morning you left your house at the same time, walked through the park at the same time and arrived at work the same time, 5 minutes early so you could make your morning coffee without your bossing telling you that you were late.

You worked at your local book store, the pay wasn't the best and your boss was horrible but your love and enthusiasm for books kept you going through the long days.

you were on your your way to work, your brown boots crunching the autumn leaves under your feet. You had always loved that sound. You were wearing your favourite orange jumper, your dungarees on top with a pair of black leggings underneath and your (h/c) hair in lose curls. you honestly couldn't fit in with the season more, even if you tried. you were always that person who would dress for the occasion.

As you walked down the street, your Starbucks hot chocolate slightly warming up your hands you began to think about the new order of books that were coming into the store today. you always got excited about the new orders, it gave you something new to do at work. Reading through all the new books and getting excited before carefully placing them on the shelves in neat rows.

As you were deep in though you didn't notice the buff man coming your way.  Your shoulders combined harshly, causing your hot chocolate to leave you hands and to be thrown over him.  Bumping into someone as you walked to work was not a rare thing. New York was a crowded place this time of day due to everyone leaving their homes to begin their shifts at work.

"I am so sorry!" you quickly said as you tried to wipe away the hot drink you just threw over this man.

You looked up for his eyes to meet with yours. His eyes were gorgeous, they were a bright emerald green. The same as yours. His long brown hair was messily ruffled but yet still neatly out of his face. His soft lips inches away from yours.

A soft chuckled escaped his mouth. "its alright doll" he calmly spoke. His voice was the type that you could listen to for hours, so calm yet full of adventure.

You were mesmerised by his whole appearance. His eyes, his hair, the way he spoke, his lips... damn his lips.

You hesitated, unsure of what to do next. "I'm so sorry, I should have been watching where I was going" you apologised again.

Another chuckled escaped his lips. "its alright, honestly. I'm just glad it happened to me and not a grumpy New Yorker" he smiled. "you seem like a nice girl"

You managed to smile. You could tell by how he addressed the people around here as 'New Yorkers' that he wasn't from around these parts.

"your not from around here are you?" she asked with a small smirk, you were intrigued to know more about this person.

"Brooklyn" he nodded. "I'm still getting used to these surroundings, the people here are.. different" he smiled with a small laugh.

you laughed back shyly. "looks like we share the same thing"you blushed. "I moved here two years ago from Brooklyn, yet I still haven't got used to it" she blushed.

"whats your name doll?" he asked gently, turning his head to the side a little.

"(y/n), (y/f/n)" you said with a smile.

"James Barnes" he introduced himself. "Everyone calls me Bucky" he added.

"well then Bucky" you chuckled shyly. "where you heading?"

"To meet an old friend, he doesn't technically know I'm around." he nodded. "but i'm sure he'll be happy to see me" he said hesitantly.

"well I hope everything goes alright with that" you said reassuringly as you could hear the hesitation in his voice.

"what about you? you seem the type of person to have lots of friends" he smiled cheekily.

"me? oh.. no" you blushed shyly. "I would prefer a good book than a party"

"well that would make two of us" he smiled down at her.

you glance up and met his gorgeous green eyes again, blushing again slightly.

"Are you busy right now? maybe we could grab a coffee?" he offered.

Butterflies grew in your stomach as he spoke, their wings flapping violently. There was nothing else in the world you would rather do right now than to grab a coffee with him, but of course work always got in the way. If you were late your boss would personally kill you.

You gave a sigh. "I would absolutely love to" you paused "but my boss would murder me if I was to be late again for work" you said with regret.

"hey, its not a problem" he gave a small smile as he saw the downed tone in your voice. He took out his phone and handed it to you. "maybe I could get your number and we could do it another time?" he asked with a cheeky smirk.

You gave him a warm smile before taking his phone and started to type In your number to his contacts. "I would love that" you told him as you gave him back his phone.

"its a date" he smiled.

"its a date" you agreed with a smile.

After both saying your goodbyes Bucky looked down at his phone. Within the contacts was a new name that read,

'(y/n)- p.s sorry again about the hot chocolate'

he chuckled silently to himself as he carried on walking through the streets of New York.
