Spring break is no more

It's 6:30am and my alarm goes off. Great. I just couldn't convince myself to get out of bed. I'm so use to sleeping in as late as I wanted to.

I finally manage to sit on the edge of my bed and get up. I went down the stairs in my pajamas trying not to wake anyone up but it was impossible with the amount of noise the stairs were making.

I make myself some toast and sit at the kitchen table turning the tv to the news. The headline was yet another disappearance. This time a female, 16 years old last seen outside the wildlife park at the edge of town. It's the 3rd one in 2 weeks.

I finish my toast and head back up to my room passing my sister as she goes down the stairs. I went into my room and picked out my light denim jeans and and my cream lace top. It was then about 7am and my other sister Laurie still hadn't got up. I didn't bother waking her because I just knew she would ignore me anyway.

The bus came at about 7:30, I said goodbye to Aunty Rachel as I walked out the door. I was about to close it when I hear Laurie running down the stairs behind me yelling "wait!" I continue walking and she finally catches up to me still doing her hair.

I step onto the bus and see Brooklyn and Candice sitting up the back so I squeeze through the walkway and sit in the seat they were saving for me. It took about another 10 minuets until we got to school. I had forgotten how loud the bus was! We walked through the parking lot to our table where we are greeted by our friends. It had only been a week since I had seen some but it still felt great to see them.

I then saw Matt among the crowd, I ran up to him and jumped into his arms hugging him tighter than ever before. He went away for the whole of spring break so it was the first time we had seen each other in a long time and now I never want to let him go.

The bell rang so Matt and I sat up from the bench, hugged and he walked off to his class. "Science" Candice says pulling me towards her, "we have science".

Squeezing through the crowded hallway we finally reach the science labs, we take our seats and wait for the teacher to arrive. "Where is he?" I hear Isaac say from behind me. "I don't know but he better hurry up or I'm leaving" Candice replies in a frustrated tone.

"Mr Novac" says a voice walking into the classroom, "your new teacher". He wasn't our usual teacher, everyone was looking around wondering the same thing. Candice leans towards me and whispers "this is going to be a fun lesson". The sound of Mr Novac's ruler hitting Candice's desk snapped her out of the conversation and back to her desk. "Spring break is over people, there will be no more partying or slacking off!"

I looked back at Isaac as if to say what a fun year this will be. He nodded rolling his eyes in agreement and the lesson continued as slow as ever.

Reality really set in, spring break was officially over.
