ship: ot4 (Mal, Evie, Jay, Carlos)
song of the imagine: never let me go by florence and the machine
synopsis: in which carlos leaves everything behind because his secrets keep following him.
Carlos paced around the outside of the dorm all of his closest friends were in while Dude looked up at him, curiously. The Vk's had planned to meet up at Evie and Mal's dorm and hang out, but Carlos had other plans. He didn't want to do what he was going to; he didn't want to picture the broken looks upon his friends' faces.
A tear fell out his eye as he sighed heavily in sadness. Looking at Dude was like an even bigger kick to the heart, knowing there was absolutely no way he could take him with. Everything was so shitty and he was stuck with no place to go and nothing to do. He looked at the bags by his feet and almost bolted back to his and Jay's room to unpack everything.
But then the same horrid words repeated in his head and he knew that he couldn't. Carlos fiddled with the letter in his hands anxiously, praying that no one would open the door any time soon.
He pictured his friends in that moment, sprawled around the room lazily with various snacks laid out and laughing while throwing them around.
He could hear it; the laughter. And it hurt. He could picture Evie, the one that was always there with a sboulder to cry on for him, laughing so hard she fell back into Mal. The purple haired girl wrapping her arm around her stomach and laughing with her.
Mal, the single most terrifying and sarcastic person he'd ever met. The one that always had a solution for any problem he had. The one that always listened to him rant no matter what the subject, and even though she pretended not to care about what he had to say, he knew she listened to every word. She was kind of like a mom in a way, though he would never say that to her.
Ben was probably sitting there like of confused by the joke but still laughing anyway, in that adorable laugh he had. Ben was the nicest person he had ever met and Carlos was grateful that he had someone like him to talk to here.
And last, but certainly not least, Jay. The stupid, destructive, beautiful, boy he was irrefutably in love with. His best friend. Straight best friend. The one that protected him from every bully, every bad thought and every immediate sign of danger. The one that stuck by him on the Isle and here, he loved him more than anything.
Which is why he had to go.
Carlos wiped his eyes and squatted, giving Dude one last rub and placed the note in front of the door. He stood and stalled a moment before placing his hand on the door. "Goodbye, guys."
He knocked once, grabbed his bags, and then he was gone.

Mal paused at the sound of a knock at the door. Her laughter died down as her ears perk up. Carlos? No, Carlos would never knock. So who was it?
"Did you guys hear that?" She said, motioning to the door.
Jay and Evie's laughter didn't subdue in the slightest. If anything, they paused and then wheb they heard each other get quiet, it made them laugh more.
Mal rolled her eyes and glanced at Ben who just smiled and shook his head. The purple haired girl walked to the door, putting on her meanest face to face the person in the other side.
Only, when she opened the door, there was no one. She glanced up and down the hallways, confused, and a little pissed that she got up for nothing.
