HARRY POTTER; THE BOY WHO LIVED SHOWS FIRST SIGN OF MAGIC IN DIAGON ALLEY!
On September 4th, 1983, Harry Potter shows first signs of magic in Diagon Alley. Witnesses said that after his mother, Lily Potter, informed him that he could only pick one item to buy, young Harry caused a small table to explode. Naturally, the wizarding world is delighted that their hero is showing signs of magic. Dr. Dalavo works at St. Mungo's and specializes in young children. He says, "Most children show signs of magic at this age, although not usually as powerful. Usually, a young child will show signs when they are feeling strong emotions. Harry Potter has shown us just how powerful he really is. If defeating the darkest wizard to ever walk this earth didn't display his power, this did."
Lily Potter looked down at the newspaper. Technically, this wasn't true. Really, it was the first public show of magic. And of course it was all over the news. This wasn't a surprise. All kids had accidental magic in public. But because it was the famous Harry Potter who had done it, it was special. Lily folded the newspaper and set it back on the table. Just because Harry had exploded something did not mean he was powerful. It meant he was feeling very angry. If greatly upset Lily when the paper tried to make Harry better and more powerful than everyone else. He was a normal boy who happened to be caught up in a terrible thing. It just wasn't fair.
Lily could hear James and Harry outside, playing in the backyard. Harry shrieked with laughter and Lily smiled. At least her three year old son was happy. She sighed and turned back to the table to stare at the folded paper. Sure, reporters had stopped coming to their doorstep two years ago when she had gone into full rage mode, but that didn't stop ten from taking every opportunity to take pictures and report thins in public. She heard the back door open and knew James and Harry were coming in.
"And then," James was saying, "it went KKAABBBOOOOOMMMM!"
Harry laughed as his father imitated the noise.
Lily chuckled. "Alright you two. Time for lunch."
"Mummy! Mummy! Daddy tells the best stories! Why don't you? Did you not have fun at Hoggy Hoggy Warty Warts?"
"I had plenty of fun," Lily said, smiling at her son's name for Hogwarts. "I just didn't do the same things your father did."
Harry giggled. "Why not?"
"Your mother was much more - reserved." James replied, while opening the fridge. He pulled out a package of strawberries and began to eat.
"Mummy! What does re-reser-reserved mean?!"
"I was not as crazy or as naughty as your father," Lily replied. "Do you want peanut butter and jelly or turkey?"
"PBJ!!!" Harry shrieked in reply.
"Uncle Padfoot is coming over today," James announced.
"Uncle Paddy!" Harry cheered.
James smiled. Sirius had a tight bond with Harry. The two of them were always up to no good. Sirius obviously loved the boy very much and was very protective over him.
"Oh boy," Lily said. "Merlin, help us."
James picked up the paper. The moment he read the headline, he put it down. Like Lily, he was sick of reading about his son in the paper. Even Harry's first word had been in the paper.
"Ding dong!"
"That'll be Sirius," James said. "I'll get it."
Lily turned to her son. "Harry dear, let's get you cleaned up. You're a mess."
"Mess," Harry giggled.
Lily waved her wand, cleaning Harry's face instantly.
"Prooongslet!" Sirius came dancing into the kitchen, a ridiculous grin on his face.
"Uncle Paddy!" Harry laughed.
Sirius caught Harry up in his arms, spun him around, and set him back down. James then entered the room, with a woman.
"Honey, could you please-" Lily stopped, seeing the woman. "Um, hello. Who are you?"
The woman chuckled. "Sorry to startled you," she apologized. "I'm Natalie Abbot. I'm guessing Sirius didn't tell you yet, seeing as your reactions were so surprised, but Sirius and I are dating!"
Natalie was tall and slim. She had long black hair that was tied back in a loose braid. She had brown eyes and a friendly smile.
"Some of you may know my brother, Mason Abbott, his wife, Bethany, and their daughter, Hannah, who is about Harry's age."
"Padfoot!" James cried. "You have a girlfriend and you didn't tell me?!"
Sirius poked Harry playfully in the stomach. "I'm allowed to have a girlfriend and not tell you," he replied. He smiled at Natalie. "If you'll excuse me, I have a Paddy, Prongslet date. You three get to know each other!" With that, Sirius was out the door with Harry.
"So, Natalie, you're dating Sirius?" James had a lame attempt at starting a conversation.
"Yep! He's real delightful. Very kind gentleman. Very funny as well."
"That's Padfoot!" James chuckled.
"So, Natalie, what do you do?" Lily asked.
"I'm in auror training," Natalie replied. "I've always been one for adventure. How about you?"
"I work part time with Muggles," Lily replied.
"I'm a Jr. Auror," James said. "I've finished training but I haven't passed the final test yet."
"Nice!" Natalie grinned. "So! You're the Potters. Legends of the wizarding world. If you don't want to talk about it, just tell me. But I was wondering, what is it like?"
Lily shrugged. "Fame is not what it's all cracked up to be. People think it's great, but it's not. Reporters are always a problem. You're always in the paper. No privacy."
Natalie nodded. "That makes sense."
"Natalie? Would you like anything to eat? We've got sandwiches, fruit, muffins, pizza, other unidentifiable items James bought."
"Hey! They are not unidentifiable!" James protested. "One is-"
"A sandwich sounds great," Natalie interrupted.
"What kind?" Lily asked.
"Turkey. Can't get enough turkey," Natalie replied.
The three sat down and ate lunch, talking about various things, politics, Hogwarts, Sirius. Overall, it was a very enjoyable lunch.
"Aaannndddd....we're back!!!" Sirius and Harry came sprinting into the room. Sirius plopped Harry down in a chair and sat down on the table.
"Sirius, get your arse off the table right now before I curse it off," Lily threatened.
"Yes my dearest Lilyflower," Sirius beamed at her.
"Well, I hate to leave but I have Auror training today and I don't want to be late!" Natalie said.
"Don't wanna be late to that," James agreed. "I was late once." He shuddered. "I was never let again."
Natalie stood up. "Well, its been great talking to you all. See you soon!"
Sirius spun Harry around one last time. "See ya Prongslet." He gave James a hug and then Lily. "See ya round!" He waved, and with, he was gone with a crack.
Lily turned to her son. "Did you have fun Harry?"
"YES! Uncle Paddy is THE BEST! But he said not to tell you what we did so I won't!"
"Uh oh." Lily commented. "Was it dangerous? Or illegal? Or scary? Was it a prank? Was it-"
"Shhhh," James shushed her gently. "You know Sirius. He wouldn't do that. For all we know, they went Christmas shopping."
"Christmas is 3 months away," Lily replied.
"The point is, Sirius would keep Harry safe," James said.
Lily sighed. She couldn't deny it. Sirius cared about Harry very much. harry would always be safe with Sirius. "So," she said, changing the subject."Natalie seemed nice, right?"
"Yeah, but I can't believe he got a girlfriend and didn't tell me!"A/N:
