So Julian finally had an answer to give all of his friends and to put in his file at school what his diagnosis was. He needed to find out for his file because in his records it showed no indication of why he was twitching. So teachers were getting worried, but now he had a diagnosis so he could clear everything up.
The night he got home he had school in the morning, and he was more nervous than he should've been. He had a real answer as to why he was twitching and people could understand that he couldn't help it at all, but it made him anxious every time he thought about having to tell people about what's wrong with him. He knew it was common and it's a non embarrassing situation but, in his personal life he's never met another person with Tourettes. He set his alarm for 7:00am so he could wake up and do his morning routine.
He ha a lot of trouble sleeping that night, he couldn't think straight, he just kept thinking about what people would say. He continued to jerk in bed, away his arms, clap his hands and hit his head. He couldn't stop ticking, he kept on getting that urge and it wouldn't go away. He kept trying to take deep breaths, but that caused him to hyperventilate.
His chest felt heavy, his lungs ached and his heart was beating out of his chest. He then began ticking very violently. Hitting the wall, pulling the covers, slapping himself, scratching himself, screaming and even pulling his hair. He began screaming uncontrollably, which caused his mother to run it frantically.
She ran over to Julian and later him down flat. She knew he wasn't seizing because his eyes weren't rolled back and he was able to communicate with her. The doctor did warn her this would happen eventually weather it be from stress, bad day or just out of the blue. Julian was having a tic attack which are episodes of tics or tic like movements that last for 15 minutes to several hours. They can be very subtle or they can be very violent.
His mother sat cross legged and put a pillow on her legs then put his head on the pillow. This lasted for about 30 minutes but it felt like forever.
Once Julian woke up, he looked up at his mom who was looking down at him. "Mom?" He said quietly. "No don't talk sweetie, just lay down and try to get to sleep, I'll call the doctor." She kissed his forehead, tucked him in and left the room, leaving the door open which he usually never likes but in this case he wanted it open incase it happened again.
Julian didn't want to go to school in the morning, but he also felt like he had to because his friends were waiting to hear an answer from him and he didn't want to disappoint them. He decided he'd go to school tomorrow but not the next day. He pulled his sheets over his shoulders, and fell asleep.
