"Their eyes met, and in an instant, with an inexplainable, only half conscious rush of emotion, they were in perfect communion" -F.Scott Fitzgerald

GRAN TORINO TRIED HIS best to cheer up the only person in the world who he worshipped more then anything but it didn't work, he couldn't make his daughter happy.

He let her stay curled up in a blanket three times her size, he silently handed her hot chocolate with whipped cream and cinnamon. It was her favorite but he couldn't do much more until the letter from U.A arrived which he knew would be soon and silently dreaded it.

She deserved the world and no one else noticed except for him.
No one saw past her quirks and looks which belonged to someone else.
She was going to meet someone someday who wouldn't care but right now, Torino was going to make sure she knew what he thought of her.

"They didn't tell you if I passed did they?" Saya muttered just loud enough for him to hear her from underneath the blankets that seemed to absorb her, she was more blanket than person at the moment.

"They know I would of told you" he said sitting back on the couch where he moved her not long ago, deeming it necessary that she was at least in a social room than hiding in her dark room with no lights on.

It was her bat cave.

She let out a loud groan before falling off the couch with a bang and wince. Saya silently decided that training seemed like something better to do than watching all her favourite Disney movies and shoujo anime.

Torino glanced at her knowing exactly what she was going to do when she later returned from her room in black leggings and a top which she knew would not catch fire or tear itself up from her use of lightning. Getting clothes for her quirk was hard, apparently in a world full of quirks - clothing got a hell lot more expensive.

Gran Torino wordlessly grabbed a couple ice cold water bottles and some fruit before walking outside to the dull ally that was his backyard - you could only tell by the high wire fence that could only keep drunk people out after they fell face first on the concrete and maybe broke their noses.

He recorded all of their failed attempts to show Saya when she woke up the next morning for school. Their failed attempts only happened early in the mornings or late at night.

Another family tradition that they both adored.

She looked up to notice him, only when she stood with lightning crawling up her arms in a tantalizing manner. A life like figure placed closely in front of her, she needed to control her quirk so she didn't always leave them badly injured or close to death.

She had nearly perfected her fathers quirk, she left the flames on her mother's side alone until she learnt how not to flinch whenever she saw the slightest spark of fire.

Maybe when this year was finished she would finally bring herself up to it, but she still had many weak points even though she had a very powerful quirk.

She could only do long distance attacks and sucked in close combat when pressured or forced to do it.

She was weak.
But stronger than most.

Weakness controlled her but motivation won in that battle every single day. Otherwise she would of given up years ago.

Gran Torino sat the belongings down on a small broken cabinet that Saya broke when she used her mother's side of the quirk for the first time. It was black and scorched but also covered in scratches - still not totally destroyed but it was now one of the few decorations that filled the ally.

He sat down crossing his legs as blow after blow of lightning rang out throughout his property and further into the deserted neighborhood. She had an annoyed expression and creased eyebrows as she used her quirk again, slowing her breathing to try to do less damage but enough to hurt it.

"You did well in the exam with Aizawa, I'm confident you both will get in the school" he spoke softly over the sounds of her training, trying to offer her some kind of relief. She slowed down and turned to look at him with an even softer smile then the tone he used with her just seconds before.

"Aizawa will certainly get in the hero course, it would be idiotic of the judges and teachers if he didn't"

Her body spun as her left leg collided with the doll in front of her, she smiled as her quirk started to understand what her mind had been telling it what to do.

Saya practiced the same thing again and again for hours as Gran Torino sat there watching her, correcting her stance and making sure she took breaks not to overwork herself but pushed her too, he was a good teacher but made sure she worked hard enough to improve herself.

"Dinners ready old man, eat it before you die of lack of food"

A simple rice dish and vegetables with meat thrown in, it tasted nice due to it being cooked by Saya but Torino hummed in thanks, she cooked every night for him, explaining that she didn't want his brittle bones to break while reaching for a mixing spoon but he knew she enjoyed doing things for the people she cared about.

He was about to speak up again about being insulted but then he heard a loud knock on the front door that made everything else silent and they both instantly knew who was there.

Saya got up first and sprinted towards the door but Torino used his quirk to beat her towards both of their destinations.

This letter was her entire life and fate decided in two paragraphs.
He hated that there was a chance she might not get in the place she had worked hard and long for.

His thinking was interrupted as he noticed the letter he had grabbed from the U.A delivery man was now indeed in Saya's small fingers.

She clutched it tightly to her chest as he jumped towards her to retrieve it back, she let out a scream and jumped sideways out of the way.

He could use his quirk but with his old age he couldn't use it as much as he was able to before.

Saya used her quirk to make 'solid clouds' around her as she ripped open the letter. Her eyes sped over the writing hardly comprehending the words except the first and last sentence.

She was accepted and she was going to be in class 1-B.

Do you guys hate me for not updating this story before? I'm sorry but I'm in Year 10 and have to write this Shakespeare inspired essay so I was trying to plan that.

Shout out to three people.
