Prologue

Prologue - Percy's POV

Angels. Innocent, pure, representative of all things good in the world. White wings, golden halo, nine choirs. Nobody stepped out of line, and anybody who did would be thrown out of heaven and left to exist in a place not quite in heaven but not quite on earth. A place for the fallen.

Demons. Sinful, immoral, representative of all things bad in the world. Although you may think these guys have red skin, a pair of horns and a tail, they really don't. It's just mainly black clothing, silver accessories, and dark features. Quite good looking too, if you ask me.

They were once angels too, you know. They were thrown out of heaven, stripped of their wings and left to simply exist, but the king of Hell - the first fallen angel himself - Satan, found them and took them back to the place he called home, Hell, and made them demons. He practically saved them from an infinite amount of lifetimes of just...being there.

The Angels and Demons have hated each other from the moment time began. The demons have caused troubles across the earth and tempted the humans, that the lower choirs of Angels dedicated their lives to protect and help, to do unspeakable things. They caused riots, rampages, death. It was terrible for us Angels, a dark period none of us speak of.

I was brought up to hate them. To never, ever trust one of them if I had the unfortunate luck of meeting one. I was supposed to run straight back to my choir and tell everybody about the monstrosity of the demon I'd seen, and hopefully the Archangel Warriors will find it and kill it.

However, my opinion on demons changed as soon as I was rescued from certain death by the prince of hell himself, the one demon I could only have nightmares about through the hellish stories the other Angels have told about him. They called him Nico di Angelo, an ironic name for somebody as 'evil' as him.

My name is Percy Jackson, head of the dominion Angels, and this is my story of how I fell in love with a demon.
