"Elliott dont touch that-" Bryan said prying his son off the stove.

"Its not safe, how did you even get up there?"

"Honey! Have you seen Elliott?" Xochilt yelled from the hallway

"Yeah he was on the stove!" Bryan yelled back.

  "he wAS WHAT-"

"he's not hurt, he looks fine, you're fine aren't you Elliott?" Bryan said hugging his son close.

"I don't understand how he gets into this much trouble, he must take after you-"  Xochilt said stepping over to Bryan so she could see for herself if there son was ok.

"Excuse me Boo, that is not true"

"I appreciate after all these years, you still call me Boo."

"Why wouldn't I?" Bryan laughed, as Xochilt took Elliott from his arms and cradled him.

Bryan looked at Elliott and realized how much he resembled both of his parents. He had some little black fluff at the top of his head and dark eyes. Bryan was always happy when he looked at his son.

"Say 'hi' to dad Elliott!" Xochilt said lifting up a little so he was able to make awkward eye contact with his father.

Bryan always laughed at Xochilt's attempts to get their son to talk, it never worked.

  "He won't say anythi-"

Bryan was cut off by their son trying to say something, but was struggling to do so.  This caught them both off guard.

Their son was only a year old, but that didn't stop him from already being pretty smart. But just as lazy as his dad.

"D.....du.." Elliot was struggling and at this point the room was quiet as both parents stared at their child in question.

"Will he actually-" Xochilt said before looking at Bryan with a wide smile.

"I don't know, normally its just cute baby talk at this age-"

  "DADA-" Elliott interrupted.

Bryan and Xochilt looked at each in awe.

"HE SAID HIS FIRST WORD BABE" Xochilt squealed

"Oh my god!" Bryan said laughing, taking and hugging Elliot once more.

Elliott was smiling and laughing just as much as Xochilt was as she kept looking at Bryan and repeating how happy she was.

He was happy too, but he focused more on the small thing. Like his sons laugh or how much he knew in that moment life would be amazing.

He knew he had an amazing family and he loved it nonetheless.  They still had some ways to go, but he was willing as long as he had Xochilt and Elliot by his side.
