Blanche
~

I opened Jerry's door and heard the small bell jingle. I looked around to peek a glance of Jerry but couldn't see him anywhere.

"Hey," I turned my head and saw Jerry's nephew. "Blanche, right ?" he asked me, showing his white teeth. I smiled back and tried to keep myself cool even though I hated meeting new people like I already said.

"Yeah, that's right." I told him, looking behind him. "Is your uncle here ?"

"Hum, no." he said. "He feels a bit sick so he let me take care of his business." he informed me.

"Oh, well good luck !" I exclaimed, giving him a encouraging smile. I was ready to leave the café but Harry called my name. I looked at him, puzzled and he seemed a bit uncomfortable.

"Why don't you take a coffee, with me." he said, blushing, as he scratched the back of his neck. I smiled softly. "I mean... if you want to." he added. I chuckled and nodded. He was kind of cute when he was that way, and I was relieved to see that he was shy, too.

I ordered my coffee and sat on the same stool I was used to seat on, watching Harry prepare two coffees. When he was done, he put the cup in front of me and I mumbled a small "thank you" before he sat next to me.

"So..." he started, watching me sip the burning beverage. "Is there a reason why you came here or something ?" he asked, resting his hands around his mug to warm them up.

"Uh, yeah..." I answered, putting a strand of my hair around my ear. "I just wanted to tell Jerry that I was leaving for a little while, and, you know ; I don't want him to worry." I replied, smiling at him. He smiled back and looked at his coffee.

"Well, I can always send the message." he chuckled.

"That would be very nice of you, Harry." I said truthfully.

We continued to drink in silence. There was no other customers inside, and I was sure that Harry felt pretty lonely all day, as Jerry wasn't here to keep him company.

"Have you known Jerry for a long time ?" Harry asked and I turned to look at him.

"Since I moved here, yeah. He has always been super nice to me." I told him, nodding slowly.

"And, why did you move here ?" Harry asked. I think he noticed that his question was making me a bit ill-at-ease as he added "I'm sorry. That was too personal to ask."

"No, no, it's okay. I can tell you if you want to know." I said, smiling. "Basically, my ex-boyfriend broke up with me and I had to buy a new place to stay in. So I found a little apartment not so far from here and moved in." Harry nodded, listening carefully to what I was saying. "It's not the best place but it's okay, I guess." I shrugged and Harry gave me a sympathetic smile.

"That's cool." he said. I was quite surprised that he didn't ask more questions about Michael, and that he didn't know who I was. Maybe he didn't watch TV or read newspapers. That was actually better that way ; I felt... normal. "And, where are you going ?" he asked me, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"To my parents'. In Virginia." I answered, finishing my cup of coffee. Harry nodded again and stayed quiet, staring carefully at me with his piercing green eyes. He had the exact same eyes as Jerry, which was amusing.
