I finally finished the first chapter! :D I'll be posting the allegiances too, but they aren't finished yet, so... oof. Here are what the characters who appear in this chapter that aren't yet in the allegiances look like:

Graykit - Gray, mackerel tabby, tom-kit with blue eyes.

Daisykit - Gray, tuxedo, mackerel tabby she-kit with blue eyes. (Sister to Graykit)

Blazekit - Fawn tom-kit with a splash of white on his chest and yellow eyes. (Brother to Larchkit)

-----------------------------

"Hey!"

The kit shifted in the soft nest.

"Wake up, Larchkit!"

She flattened her ears.

"Are you dead? C'mon, don't you want to play?"

Larchkit opened her eyes slowly. Graykit leaned over her, his blue eyes staring back at her. She sat up, her small pink tongue curling as her jaws gaped in a yawn.

"Took you long enough!" Graykit scoffed. "Blazekit are gonna play mossball, come join us!"mewed Graykit, nodding toward Blazekit, who was rolling some moss into a ball.

Larchkit shrugged and stood up, flexing her claws. "Okay. I'm a bit drowsy, so I might not be very good right now."

Blazekit grinned. "Alright. Here, catch!"

Larchkit plucked the mossball out of the air as her brother flung it in her direction. She tossed it to Graykit, who then tossed it to Blazekit. She peered outside of the nursery as the two tom-kits whipped the ball at eachother. It's a nice day out. Perfect for exploring! As she was thinking about trekking through the snow and finding more trinkets for her collection, she was startled when something smacked into the side of her head.

"What-?" She looked around, then realized that Blazekit had thrown her the mossball.

Blazekit frowned. "Pay attention, silly. You didn't even try to catch it!"

"Sorry, I was thinking about other stuff," she mewed. "Stuff more important than a game of mossball."

Graykit huffed. "Really? Jeez, you're no fun."

Larchkit narrowed daggers at him and padded away, feeling a bit stung. She padded out of the nursery, blinking against the bright morning light. She trotted through the snow and scanned the Hiraethclan camp. Oliveheart, the co-deputy, was laying on a boulder, sunning himself. A group of warriors were sitting together, chatting.

Maybe I can go exploring with them! she thought, grinning.

She dashed over to the warriors,  pouncing on one of their tails. Birdstep glanced over her shoulder at Larchkit and smiled.

"Hello, Larchkit," she purred.

"Hi!" Larchkit sat down with the warriors, straightening her back slightly. "What are you guys doing?"

"We're setting up patrols," replied Sunburst, her father, drawing a fawn paw over his ear.

"Can I come?" she asked eagerly.

A few of the warriors laughed, and Sunburst answered her. "No, I'm afraid you're much too small."

"Aw, come on! I'm nearly as big as you!" she stood up tall, straining her legs, though she knew she was nowhere near as tall as the warriors yet.

Sunburst smiled and rested a paw on her head. "Why don't you go play with Blazekit or Graykit?"

Larchkit huffed and sat down. "I don't want to play with them, they're mouse-brains."

Sunburst tilted his head. "What about Daisykit? I saw her playing with Cherrypaw earlier, near the medicine den."

Larchkit shrugged. She felt awkward talking to cats she didn't know and had never really talked to her. The only reason she hung out with Blazekit and Graykit was that they couldn't seem to just leave her alone.

"Okay." Better than going back to the nursery.

She stood up and trotted away, toward the medicine den. She soon could hear cats talking and peeked around the corner. Cherrypaw and Daisykit were sitting in the snow, some sticks laid out on the ground.

"I'm going to go on a patrol. Bye, Branch!"

"Bye, Stick!"

Larchkit padded over to the two she-cats, mewing in greeting.

Daisykit glanced over her shoulder. "Hi! You're Larchkit, right? I'm Daisykit."

"I'm Cherrypaw!" piped the ginger she-cat.

Larchkit nodded. "Nice to meet you. What are you guys doing?"

Daisykit held up her paw. Her claws were curled around a small, brown, twig. "Sticks!"

Larchkit raised a brow, eyeing the twig.

"This is Stick," mewed Daisykit.

Cherrypaw held up another twig. "This is Branch. She's Stick's mate."

"I didn't think sticks could be mates," mewed Larchkit, tilting her head.

"They can!" Daisykit beamed. "Hey, do you wanna play with us?"

"Sure." Larchkit sat down, curling her fluffy tail around her. "How do I play?"

"Well first, you need a stick to play with." Daisykit looked around, then trotted over to a small stick and carried it back to her, dropping it at Larchkit's paws.

"This can be.. Twig!" said Daisykit, sitting down and grabbing Stick. "Just pick it up, like this."

Larchkit curled her tiny claws around Twig, lifting it up. "Okay."

"Hello, I'm Stick!" said Daisykit in a different, squeaky, voice. "What's your name?"

"I'm Twig. Nice to meet you," mewed Larchkit, holding up the stick.

"I'm Branch," said Cherrypaw."There, that's how you play!"

Maybe it could be fun. She grinned.
