Persephone's Journey

Chapter 6

Persephone laid in the hospital bed debating on whether to call Riley. When she finally decided to call him the door to her room opened and there stood Amaryllis. "What the hell are you doing here, get out!" Persephone yelled holding her sides, while pressing the call button for the nurse.

"I'm here to see who have you pissed off now." Amaryllis said laughing. "Maybe if you left other people's property alone shit like this would not happen. I do have to admit they did a wonderful job."

"GET THE FUCK OUT" Persephone screamed. Just then the nurse came in.

"What's going on here Am," the nurse asked. Persephone yelled "I want her gone and I don't want her to have any access to me or my records." The nurse shoved Amaryllis out the room and got the hospital security to keep her away. Then she returned to the room and offered Persephone something for pain and to calm her down. Persephone accepted and the nurse headed out to get the medication.

The nurse came back with Persephone's chart in her hand. "Seph I'm so sorry I can't give you any meds right now." she said. Persephone looked at her puzzled, "Why what's wrong?" she asked.

"The doctor will be in shortly."

"Maria stop treating me like I'm not a nurse too; what is going on. There are only a few reasons I can think of you not being able to give me Morphine, either I'm allergic or I'm....

Persephone went silent. Could she be? No it couldn't be, Riley and she had been careful, all except that first two days. The thought never crossed her mind.

"Maria am I pregnant?" she asked, "And please tell me the truth."

"Yes Seph you are. Your blood work just came in. Dr. Raj is ordering an ultrasound now to see how far along you are. I assume you didn't know?"

"No I had no idea." Maria left the room and now she had a lot to think about.

Riley and the club made it back to the clubhouse fine. He was just about to leave when Jake called him; "Riley I need to talk to you."

"What's up Jake?" Riley asked.

"Look man the real reason we came back early was that Bone called me and told me that when he went by your girl's house to check on her they saw an ambulance leaving and the cops were there. Bone asked the neighbor what happened. They told him that she been attacked and beat to a bloody pulp as she got out the shower. She is at the hospital. They have her in a room now. Mud and Bone are trying to find out as much as they can. I'll put the rest of the guys on trying to find out who did this to her."

Riley was speechless. He ran out the club got on his bike and sped away as fast as he could. Jake got on his bike and followed him. Riley made it to the hospital in no time and rushed to her room. When he opened the door. She was sleeping. She looked like a broken china doll. Her face was swollen and covered in bruises. One of her arms was wrapped up. He walked over to the bed and placed her hand in his and kissed it. Persephone woke up when she felt his kiss.

"Riley baby who told you I was here?" she asked as she placed her hand on the side of his face. Riley pulled up a chair and when he looked at her his eyes were filled with tears. "What did they do to you baby? Who did this to you?" he asked.

"I don't know Riley. When I got out the shower I was hit in the back of the head. I fell to the floor and they started kicking me hard. It was more than one that much I know because I was getting kicked on both sides."

"Seph I'm sorry I wasn't here to protect you."

"I'm not with you so you can protect me. I'm with you because I love you."
