Chapter 10: My Swan Song
I actually made it way farther than I thought I would.
The Idol family kept dwindling down every week. When Noelle left, our number came down to six. We made a habit that we get together every night.
"I would like to say something in front of the group, and I would like to say it now while I have the balls to." Ethan said as he stood in front of everyone. "Marley if you could."
Marley, a 22 year old blonde from Southern California, played a song from her speaker. Ethan pulled Riley up with him and began singing.
She's the girl that no one ever knows.
And I say, "hi" but she's too shy to say, "hello."
She's just waiting for that one to take her hand and shake her up.
I bet I could.
I wish my heart was always on her mind.
She's on mine like all day all the time.
Ethan spun and twirled Riley around as he sang. Everyone laughed and sang along. Riley's face was like a tomato, but smiled at Ethan the whole time.
Ethan pulled Riley in close, their faces almost touching, just say you like me.
"I like you." Riley smiled. Ethan smiled back and kissed her.
Now I have to keep my eye on Ethan, just in case I need to check a bro, if you know what I mean. If he gets out of line, those green eyes are turning black.
I had a hard time focusing on my song. I had to look out for Ethan. It's not that I don't trust Ethan, it's just that he's Riley's first boyfriend.
"Look man," Ethan told me one night. "I'm not going to hurt her. I know how Riley is important to you."
My live performance was really off. I kept glancing over at them. They just looked at me, their hands intertwine with one another. I had to trust Ethan that he was doing the right thing with Riley.
Riley and Ethan performed a duet of Count On You by Big Time Rush feat. Jordin Sparks.
I couldn't help but feel on edge whenever I saw them together. I just wanted to stand in front of Riley, cross my arms, and say, "no" in Ethan's face. You know what I'm saying?
I don't know how I'm going to deal with them dating.
I was dreading the live results show. I knew I was going to be in the bottom two. Surely enough, I was there.
I ended up the one voted off the show.
Bombshell...
People gasped and booed. I looked over at Riley. Her arms were crossed, her head banged against Ethan's chest.
I ended up getting fifth place. So much for the dream.
