Ten Years Ago-

Cayne, Jack, Cara, Tate, and I walk into Skyline, running to the bar, where Ale just informed us that Pen returned. She'd been gone for more than three days and Ale, her brother had gone crazy. Now she'd appeared and being practically family, he'd called us first.

Pen's brown hair falls over her shoulders as she sobs. "And...and I couldn't help her Ale, she was being dragged away...and they were going to do bad things to her and I couldn't help...I..." she trails off, sobbing some more. My brothers and I exchange confused glances.

"What's going on, Ale?" Cayne says, brow furrowing. Ale grimaces, glancing worriedly at his sister.

"She saw a...girl," Ale says uncertainly. Pen nods from her seat. "I'm not going crazy, Ale, she's real, and she was...in my head like she saw my memories or something, and then she stopped like they were making her and she didn't want to. She was nine or ten or something...she..." she's interrupted by another sob.

"She looked terrible, barely fed the poor thing, and she was only in this ratty giant shirt, her arms and her legs were bruised and scarred, who knows what they're doing to her right now,"

Cayne and I exchange a glance. Most likely, if this girl existed...she was dead now. The Sirens and Nymphs didn't know what it was like to have mercy. Little girl or not, she was dead now. Clearly, she'd done something wrong. I wince at the thought of someone like that.

Tate and Cara duck under the counter and hurry to hug Pen, grimacing in pain at what she'd gone through. Why they'd taken Pen, no one knew. Hell, we don't know if this chick she was talking about was real.

Right now, I didn't care. I had Tate, and Pen would heal over time, but Tate was still here. I loved her, and that would never go away. I'd marry Tate someday.
