It's the last year of my elementary level. I should be excited but I wasn't. Mira was in another class and I belong at the so called 'star class' where all the said 'brainy students' were. So basically, it's a battle of the brains.
It was not just my problem, though. I also felt out of place. It was the same feeling back in first grade.
Ben was also in the same class with me and honestly, I didn't think that it was a good idea.
"Congratulations! You're a star pupil!" Mira slapped my arm and I hissed. "Geez! You don't have to do that." I rubbed my shoulder that was crimson red like our uniform. "I'd rather be with you here than be there."
Mira smacked my head. "Hey! Don't say that! Nobody wants to be in the last section!"
"Oh really?" I raised an eyebrow at her and crossed my arms on my chest. "Well, it seems to me that you love it here. I might as well transfer here."
"No!" I flinched at her sudden outburst. "All of your hardwork will go to waste." I rolled my eyes, "I don't even remember studying late at night."
"Well, you read books." she shrugged. "And so do you." I stated as I leaned on the doorframe. "A book is different from a fanfic!" she argued.
"They're all the same. They tell stories and teach us lessons."
"Well, I read mangas." she countered. "And so do I."
"Look, we're different-"
"We're not. Both of us are humans so there's no difference. We eat, we sleep, we-"
"Cut it off! Will you?"
"Fine." I murmured "Can I at least be with you during breaks?"
"Oh sure."
"Kei!" We turned around and saw Ben waving. "It's already time. Come in. Sensei's going to be here in a minute." he shouted and I looked at Mira. "You heard him. Go." And so, I ran to him.
"Hey, don't run." he arranged my glasses and I looked away when I felt his fingers touch my nose. "You might trip."
"S-sorry." was all I could say.

"I told you to stop messing up with me." I smirked dangerously and grabbed him by his collar. "You really provoked me, huh?"
"S-sorry Kei!" Ziko tried to let go from my grip. "I didn't mean it!"
"Three counts and if you're still here, you're dead meat." I let go and he scrambled to the door. "Two...One." I smirked again, "Too bad, you're slow."
I knocked down some desks and disarranged some chairs to clear my way. I held a chair and swung it as I walked towards him. He cowered in fear and I was about to hit him with the object when Ben held the foot of the chair.
"Stop it, Kei." He took it away from me and put it down.
I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I crouched down and met Ziko's eyes. "Listen here, pipsqueak. Be thankful to him." I nodded at Ben.
I gripped his shirt and Ben held my hand. "Kei." he warned and glared at me.
"I'm just gonna say something to him." he let go of my hand so I leaned down to Ziko and whispered, "Because if it weren't for him, you're already 50/50 by now." I harshly let go, causing for his shirt buttons to fly across the room.
"Oops." I mocked him. "I even ripped your shirt."
****
"Hey, you okay?" he sat down next to me outside our classroom. I was trying to cool my head since I got pissed by off a while ago. I was restraining myself from punching someone by clenching my fists, nails digging on my palms and knuckles turning white.
