Someone pokes me on the shoulder. I turn, and see Blue standing behind me, a small smile on her face. "Hi, Blue!" I say, smiling cheerfully at her. "Hi, Emerald!" Blue says, smiling softly. "How are you?" I ask softly, feeling a bit concerned. "I'm fine!" She says, her smile getting wider. "Okay..." I say feeling a bit skeptical. "Can we talk after school?" She asks, looking nervous. "Sure!" I say brightly. "Thank you!" Blue says, obviously delighted. The bell rings, and everyone rushes to first period. I enter the Girls locker room and get in my PE clothes, and sit on a bench to wait for everyone else to finish. All the eighth grade girls tell me it's time to go. I get up, and I exit the locker room, and I sit in my squad. the people on my squad are: Heather Smith, Heather Hills, Heather Johnson, Joshua Apodaca, Roberto Adkins, Luke Johnson, and Gregory Thompson. Coach Martinez takes role, and puts us in pairs to play pickle ball. I'm partnered  with Jack Cole, another one of my friends. I win seven games out of eight. "Whoa, Emerald. I've never seen someone win that many games in a row before!" Heather Hills says, back in the locker room, after i'm done dressing. I blush slightly, and I hide my face. "I practiced over winter break." I say bashfully. "That explains it." Heather Smith says with a bright smile. The bell rings, and we head to our second period classes. I head to language arts, my favorite class. It's one of the four classes I have with Blue. I Whistle as i walk into the classroom. the desks had been rearranged into a big circle. I choose a seat near the window, and I wait for Blue to get here. Blue walks into the doorway, and I wave her over to where i'm sitting. I notice a bandage peeking out of her sleeve, stained with blood. "What happened?" I ask, concerned. She pulls down her sleeve, hiding the bandage. "Nothing." she says with a smile, not meeting my eyes. "Blue-" I start, but the teacher starts calling attendance. I look at her, worried. "Emerald Stone?" Mr. Kane calls impatiently. "Here!" I say, raising my hand. Blue looks slightly relived. A couple minutes later blue's name was called. "Blue Diamond?" Calls Mr.Kane. "Here!" she says, raising her hand slightly. (The names are not in alphabetical order on the attendance chart.) The next couple of hours went by fast. Then it was lunchtime. I catch Blue in the hall, and I drag her into the restroom. "Blue, Whats going on?" I demand, feeling upset. Blue Hangs her head, letting her smile slip away. "Emerald, have you ever wanted to die?" she asks bluntly. "Not really... Why?" I ask, bewildered. "Because, I-I want to die."she says, then bursts into tears. "Blue..." I say, and I pull her into a hug. "Blue, so many people love you. it would hurt so many people if you died." I say, feeling a tinge sad. "They'd get over it eventually." she says, sniffling. "I would never forgive myself if you killed yourself. I'd never get over it." I say desperately. "You will. Almost everyone who's died has been forgotten over the course of time." She argues, hiccuping loudly. "I wouldn't forget you. Your my closest friend. How could I forget you?" I say, forcing a smile on my face. She tightens her hold on me. "Blue, please show me your bandage." I say, my smile wavering. She pulls back from me, and she pulls up her sleeve. It's completely soaked with blood. I pull out my first aid kit, and I take off her dirty bandage, and I put some anti-infection on it, then I wrap it in a fresh bandage. I pull her sleeve over the bandage. "Please don't tell anyone!" Blue begs, tears streaming down her face. "Don't worry. I won't." I say, crossing my fingers behind my back. 'I might have to if you get worse' I think. She smiles thankfully. "Emerald, your the best!" she exclaims, throwing her arms around me. "Thank you." I say, blushing slightly. 'If only she knew' a small part of me thought. "Now, lets get you cleaned up." I say, and I bring her over to a sink, and I wash her face with cold water to hide the evidence she had been crying. "Lets go eat." Blue says, holding tight to my arm. "Okay." I say cheerfully, and I follow her to the lunch line.
