Ari sat in his glistening silver Chevrolet Volt as he thought to himself. The smell of the new leather interior gave him comfort. Dawn had already begun to shown itself, gifting the grass with morning dew, and impatiently nudging the sun awake. Ari's freshly combed, soft-brown hair drifted to one side as he put his head in his hand with a sigh. It was Friday, October 27th, the day of the Halloween dance.  Earlier that month, Kyle had made a bet with Ari.  He bet the Buccaneers would beat the Patriots.  If the Patriots won, Kyle would dress up as a girl for the upcoming Halloween dance, and if the Buccaneers won, Ari would be the one who dresses up as a girl.  Kyle came over to Ari's house to watch the game, his fifty-two inch T.V. was quite impressive. They sat down on the black leather couch in front of the television, waiting excitedly for the game to start.
After a 20 second commercial the game was on. Both of them grabbed a bag of chips for snacking. The football was tossed and the players sprang into action, quarreling like a pack of wolves over a kill. The Patriots soon enough were in the lead and Ari let out an enthusiastic "Yes!" prolonging the "s" sound in the word "yes." Kyle squinted at him and pushed his shoulder angrily. Ari returned his gaze and gave a grin that spread from cheek-to-cheek as to further aggravate his friend. They both looked back at the tv intensely, and the announcer had declared half-time. A Doritos commercial came on shortly after the fact. The two friends turned to each other and Ari exclaimed:
"I guess I'll be picking out a dress for you to wear to the dance Kylie!" Ari then giggled obnoxiously like a middle school boy.
"Don't be so sure Ariana, there's still the rest of the game for the Buccaneers to catch up."
Ari didn't care, he knew his favorite team wouldn't lose, he was confident that Kyle would be strutting along the dance floor in a pretty pink dress and heels. Ari carefully selected a curly blonde wig to go with the outfit. The color was a kind of cheap yellow-blonde that didn't match his friend's hair, but he figured the tackier the better. Kyle munched on chips bitterly and mumbled to himself. The game was back on and the two of them focused their attention on the tv. The Buccaneers had the ball and they were about to score a touchdown. One of the Patriots' players attempted to takedown the running Buccaneer, but instead fell flat against the ground. Eluding the opposing player, the Buccaneers scored, and they tied up with the Patriots.
After the Buccaneers scored a point, the football players got into position again. Ari was not phased by the Buccaneers catching up to his beloved Patriots, he knew they would win the game. About fifteen minutes had passed, Kyle and Ari still had their eyes on the television. The Buccaneers were in the lead now, and Ari's facial expressions were that of anguish and dread, because the possibility of him losing the bet was becoming reality. Kyle looked over at Ari and gave him a grin nearly as big as the one Ari had given him earlier with the added question:
"Now who will be the one to pick out a dress, huh?"
Ari shook his head while looking down at his palms, then re-clasped his hands and held them to his lips, continuing to look at the television as if Kyle wasn't there. The Buccaneers had one more point before they won the game, the football players were lined up again. Though the Patriots had a slim chance of winning they continued to play with the utmost tenacity, desperately grabbing at the ball in an attempt to prolong their loss. That attempt ended in failure, the Buccaneers had scored their final point, and the Patriots lost the game.
"No!" yelled Ari, so loud that anybody in the house could have heard him.
Kyle was elated; His eyes were shining and he let out a loud laugh.
"Hah! I knew the Patriots would lose, that's why I made the bet! You're going to dress up as a girl for the dance and I'm picking the outfit! Should I give you a Sexy Schoolgirl outfit, or should I make it classy and have you wear a prom dress? Oh the choices!"
Ari cringed. This is cancer! I can't go to the dance dressed up as a girl, Kyle was supposed to! I have a cheap blonde wig and a pink ruffled dress that I was going to have him wear. I was going to make a meme out of him, and now I'm going to be the meme, great, just great!
