The morning glow came over the camp as the Sun floated over the mountains signaling it was morning. David stepped out of the counselors cabin breathing in the fresh air of the forest, admiring the suns bright shine.

"Good morning camp Campbell" he said to himself as headed towards the tents. He tooke a deep breath and shouted, "GOOOOOD MORNING CAMP CAMBELL CAMPERS" to which he was greated with groaning as the campers emerged from their tents. Not that it was anything new to hear that.

However there was something that was missing. The casual snarky remark of Max! The morning never started without Max at least yelling at David for waking him up.

David never understood why though. He should be used to this by now.

"Ill be right back kiddos!!" He said joyfully before entering Max's tent. He saw the kid on his bunk with his camp Campbell shirt. Usually David would squeal with joy seeing max wear the shirt but now was not the time.

"C'mon Max I really need you to wake up now."

"Ugh shut up david..." Before David could answer he heard max let out a small cough. Immediate concern took to David's face. But he knew he couldn't stay in here too long. The campers were outside waiting.

David quickly dashed out and back to the counselor cabin.

"Gwen!!" He shouted

"uh yeah?" She answered clearly confused. "Wait did Max set something on fire again?" She asked.

"What? No! Can you watch the campers today?" Ugh davi-" she was interrupted. "Pleeeeease?? Max is sick and I need to take care of him."

"Ugh Jesus fine. Why do you make everything so difficult" ahw reluctantly agreed understanding the circumstances.

David grinned and hurriedly ran back to Max's tent. He came in through the entrance only to be met by a coughing fit erupting from Max's bed.

David ran to Max's bedside to check on him. Max's eyes were red and slightly puffy from the sickness.

"Oh max... Are you okay?" David asked, his tone dipped in concern.

"Ugh you really don't understand what go away me-" Max interrupted himself by going in to a second fit of coughing.

David looked more concerned than he did before. (If that's even possible). "Ill be right back Max!" He left the tent to go get medicine.

"Dont come back at all!!" Max yelled after him. Though it be honest Max didn't mind David's company.

David came back with a small cup of colorful liquid to which Max assumed was some kind of coughing syrup.

"Now Max I need you to not fight me on this and take this medicine."

Max just sighed and took the cup from David's hand and drank the medicine.

"Bleugh!" Max stuck his tongue out childishly at the taste of it. "That shits gross David."

"I know Max but its going to help you get better!! You'll be back out doing activities before he know it!!" David chirped. He paused before he spoke again, "You need anything else?"

"Ugh no David go away." Max frowned.

David let out a sigh. "Alright max if thats what you want." David exited the tent.

Max was actually surprised someone cared. Someone actually tried to help him from his sickness.  His entire life he had been used to being ignored. He was used to it and though it was normal. He spent every birthday alone. He never got help on homework. His parents had forgotten him at school more than a few times. Most days he'd spend with no food. His parents never cared when he was sick. Hed spent weeks on end  vomiting in to a toilet bowl because his parents never took the time to take him to a hospital. He thought that was normal. So why would David bother? Why did he always put up this happy facade and be nice to everyone. David had to hate him he just knew it. Max's parents hated him, his teachers as well, so David must have to too right? He hated being confused like this. Being confused as to who loved him or not. Max just sighed and went to sleep happy that at least someone cared enough to help him while he's sick.
