It all started with fire

"it's not my fault" she yelled.

If only she heard. If only she listened. If only she understood.

"Are you real?" She whispered

•Sirard & Astissa•

It was a rush. Astissa couldn't remember the last time she'd run that fast. It must've been that time already, they didn't keep track of the time.

'The Rebirth' she thought looking at the orange sky with faded blues, violets and yellows in the horizon. The red star would be seen in all the land and would symbolize the time.

The time

It's time

The kingdom Niraven would celebrate it's 'cleansing' for the repayment of the horrible fate humanity has given the kingdom.

"Run," sirard said "go to the others and warn them"

They were vagabonds. Having no place in the kingdom they were banished. Astissa stuttered unable to find the word as the endless questions overflowed her mind leaving it blank.

"Wh-what about you?"She finally got out stopping in her tracks.

Being ahead of her, he turned around to face her looking down on the forest floor. He couldn't look at her. She didn't want to know the answer knowing her friend well, he wasn't the kind to back down, always determined. She wanted him to stay. He sadly smiled stepping towards her ,interlocking fingers.

"I'll meet you back at there," he nodded towards where their village was. to run away from the holy order.

"I just need to get lead away from our village" he squeezed their hands together, his smile fading, before releasing hers from his. She felt and object in her hand. Cold metal on her palm made her look at him un easily.

It was his locket (well...part of a locket) given to his mother by his father. He never met him. Never knew how they lost him (his mother never talks about it) but it was a sign that he was still there, at least. His last memory of him and he was giving it to her.

"I can't take this I-" she began protesting almost shoving the accessory to his chest.

"It's okay. it's okay. Don't worry about it. Just-just,"

"No, no I-I just can't" she shook her head, this time weakly giving him back the necklace in her hands. her eyes stung from the piercing tears as she swallowed a lump in her throat.

"hey," he calmly said placing a hand on her shoulder while the other pushed her hands with the locket closer to her chest. "it's okay... go back to the village and warn the others"

"promise me you'll go back" she looked up desperately.

he looked down "go" he commanded his expression stone cold.

"promise me" her tears fell on the ground, closing her eyes. hoping he'd wipe them away.

"Just go!" he whisper yelled.

a drop off crystal from the sky fell gently around them.

Branches and dried leaves crunched beneath her worn out foot wear as she furthured away from him clutching the now warm piece of metal. quietly sobbing as to not get caught.
