Chapter One – The Advantages of Being an Office Slave

(8) Enchanted by Taylor Swift

***

This story is about a girl called Bonnie, who is perfectly happy with the way her life is. She is with a guy known by the name of Daniel Crawford whom she will one day marry, she is sure of that. Growing up with two brothers and no father comes as a struggle but they all manage.

To help her mother support her family she works part time in the Seventeen magazine. She’s more of an office slave than anything, but whatever keeps a steady heap of cash rolling in is okay with her.

You’d think that’s all there is to this story. And it is, until our lovely boy Justin turns up and turns this poor girl’s world upside down to the point where she doesn’t remember her own name. Let’s also remember that Justin IS dating Selena Gomez who won’t go down without pulling of a last drama queen act.

“I’ll be back before dinner mum!” I call as I let myself out the front door.

“Okay love” she calls back to me.

I smile as I walk down our front porch steps and make my way to my old citren C4. It’s a crap little thing but it gets me around, and that’s all I need from it.

Growing up in a small house on the outskirts of town with two younger brothers and a mother that is not quite over her husband’s death isn’t an easy fate.  In fact there are days where I just want to pack a backpack and leave. Leave this town behind with a hundred dollars in my pocket and travel far far away. Those thoughts always go away quickly though when I think about just how much more hurt that would cause my mother, so I sit my arse back down on my bed with the backpack at my feet.

I drive into the parking area outside the office and sigh. This is going to be a very long evening.

“Hi Tess” I say brightly as I enter the front room.

“Oh hi Bonnie” she says less brightly frantically looking for something on her desk.

“Everything okay?” I ask stopping in front of her desk.

“Pardon?” she looks at me for a second then seems to register what I had said, “oh no it’s okay, I’ve just seemed to of misplaced Gillian’s schedule” she lets out a strained laugh and I give her a sympathetic look.

“Don’t worry you’ll find it” I say already half way across the room, “I’d check your drawers”.

“Good idea!” she squeals almost too brightly as I take the bend behind the partition wall to find the other room empty. Not surprising really. Apart from me, only the photographer has his corner but he spends most of his time downstairs in the photo shoot room. Rob. He’s a good lad.

“Found it!” Tess shouts like a maniac.

“That’s good!” I call back crashing in my seat. I pull my phone out and put it on the desk then set of on logging in and checking my inbox.

Hi Bonnie

It’s a lovely day today is it not?

I would love it if you could do the health section today? What d’you think?

I will need you to write me something about summer smoothies to fulfil our five-a-day in the summer. How totally cool is that?

Anyway let me know if you run into any problems but as always I am counting on you.
