Taylor's pov:

I feel much more comfortable in this run down Pizza place. I have been here with my friends countless times. The place may not look the best but their pizza is absolutely delicious

"Aye Taylor and Karie!" The Italian waiter approaches us

"Antonio hey!" I smile

"Long time no see eh? What will I be getting you two?" He holds his notepad and pen with a big smile on his face

He has been the waiter every time I come here. Every. Time. And as you know, I've been here a lot. I'm not complaining, he is always very nice.

"Two lemonades and a medium pepperoni pizza please" Karie answers

"Really? Not the supreme?" He frowns

"Not this time" Karlie chuckles while handing him our menus

"Okay then. I'll go get that ready for you guys" He smiles with a nod before heading towards the kitchen

"I have actually missed him" Karlie comments

I smile "Me too. By the way, I meant to ask.."

"Mhm" she stares at me

"How have you been?"

"Well..I must say that being a coder is not the easiest job. I do such a variety of different types of coding that everywhere I go someone wants me to do it differently"

I nod to let her know I'm listening

"So I'll be working on one project for a video game then another for a website. Both require a different type of code. But it's still something that I enjoy so that's all that matters. I'm lucky to have a job like it considering my college grades" she rolls her eyes "So I guess I've been a little stressed but overall satisfied" she smiles

I nod "That's great" I smile

She smiles back

Karlie's pov:

"Now tell me again what your book is about?" I ask

I notice her face unintentionally light up at the mention of her passion

"Basically it's about my life here in the city. It's starts with me staying here when my family left. It just talks about the liveliness of the city and everything that I experience and have experienced. It's about the danger in the night..you know..and other things"

I can't stop smiling "It amazes me of how far you've come. I remember in middle school how you'd show me little stories you wrote during class. They were always so cute and creative. I was jealous. I couldn't write to save a life. I still can't. But you can. Your writing is so descriptive and eloquent. It's truly beautiful"

"Karlie-"

"Two lemonades" Antonio sets them down between us "The pizza will be out soon" he disappears behind the counter

"Thank you for saying that. It means a lot. And I didn't know you remembered my short stories" she laughs

I've missed her laugh so much "Oh ya all the time! My favorite was always the one about the monster in your closet. It was cute in the sense that you were in seventh grade and still scared of monsters"

"It wasn't literal, It was metaphorical" She rolls her eyes playfully

"Oh. Oops" I cringe "Now I feel dumb about all those sleepovers when I'd leave the closet light on"
