"yo what up dumbass," i yell out of the window seeing olive coming out of the house.

she doesn't smile at me like she usually does. she locks the door with her keys and walks towards my car as she looks back at the house.

like she's never going to see it again.

"hey boop," she says getting into the car.

she slams the door behind her staring at the house.

her cheeks turning red from the warm air of my car hitting her pale, cold skin.

she sits quietly and i look at her taking my hands off of the wheel.

"what's up?" i say.

"nothing," she says quickly ignoring the question.

"olive you're my best friend i know when something is up." her eyes connect with mine coldly.

"grayson i'm fine. you can shut the hell up now." her eyes darting back at the floor again.

i roll my eyes.

"whatever," i whisper starting the car again, turning up the AUX

"you're seriously freaking me out ollie," i say parking in the parking space stopping the car.

"grayson stop, i'm just tired."

she gets out of the car and going into the restaurant.

i follow behind her grabbing my wallet and phone.

i walk in behind olive.

"yo what's up guys," reed says waving at us.

"hey good morning bro, table for two?" i ask.

"you got it g, usual table?"

"nah how about a diff-"

"same table," olive says cutting me off.

"sure thing ol." reed says as we go to the table.

we sit down and i stare at her as she drinks her hot chocolate.

"i appreciate you grayson," she says putting the cup down locking her eyes with my stare.

"you're the bestest best friend i could ever ask for," she continues intertwining her fingers together putting her chin on her hands while her elbows press against the table.

"i appreciate that you think that," i say chuckling, she gives me a dirty look.

"i'm kidding, i love you o." i give her a no teeth smile.

i laugh afterwards causing her to flip me off.

it was weird.

we never talk like this.

"welcome to hell," i say pulling into the school parking lot.

i park in the usual spot down by the football field and take the keys out of the ignition and look at olive.

she stares out of the window hopelessly, sadly.

"what the fuck olive did you not study for the ap bio test or something?" i say as a joke.

she looks back at me, her tears welling up by the corner of her eyes.

"wha-olive-"

she storms out of the car with her backpack slamming the door behind her.

"shit," i whisper rubbing my callused hands over my eyes.

i quickly get out of the car locking it and run into school, dodging everyone who comes my way.

"OLIVE?" i yell looking for her.

i stare into the commotion of students going to first period.

but she's gone.
