Todd was completely nervous that next day, when Thompson wasn't at the bar. He just told everyone who asked what was wrong that he was just running a bit short on alcohol and had to order more. But, really, that was a lie he came up off the top of his head. He was really worried about when Thompson would get there. Mostly because he guessed that he would be arrested or, worse, shot at by the sheriff for finding or his identity.
Around sun down, surprisingly, Thompson finally showed up. This just added to Todd's nervousness, since he usually came in when the sun was right over them in the sky. The sheriff sat down in his normal seat and looked at Todd, who nervously smiled.

"Hey, there, sheriff."
"Hey." Thomspons greeted back, smiling a bit. "Sorry that I didn't come in at the normal time. I had to deal with a few things."
A few things to arrest and kill me with... Todd thought and turned to get Thomson his drink. He gave him the whiskey and the sheriff thanked him before taking a sip.

"So... what's been going on with cha?" Todd decided to break the ice between the two. Thompson put his drink down and smiled.
"Nothing much. I met up with that bandit again."
Here we go... "Really? What did he say this time?"
"I asked him why he's a bandit, actually. And he started explaining why he's the way he is. Why all bandits break the law. They can't help it, they're raised like it." Thompson explained, taking another sip of his drink. "Ya know, I take back what I said."
"What?" Todd was completely confused by this.
"Remember when I said that I hate that bandit? I'm taking that back. He's ok." He smiled. Todd couldn't help but smile as well.
"Alright. I guess you took my advice, huh?" Thompson chuckled.
"Yeah, I guess I did."
