"Every day discovering something brand new, I'm in love with the shape of you," I belt out to the radio, earning an amused chuckle from the boy in the driver's seat.
"You're a terrible singer, you know," Tyler teases, glancing at me out of the corner of his eyes.
"Mmmm, but you love me," I respond, earning me a lopsided grin.
"You've got me there."
I lean across the console and place quick peck on his cheek before sparing a glance at the GPS.
"How much longer?" I ask.
"About twenty minutes."
I sigh happily and lean back into my seat, resting my feet up on the dashboard.
It's strange to think that in less than an hour I'll be moving into my dorm room at the university I've been dreaming about for as long as I can remember. In all honesty, I'd have preferred to live in an apartment off campus, but Stanford requires all freshmen to live in the dorms. Luckily, I managed to snag a private room so at least I'll have some privacy. Plus, it makes Tyler staying over for the next couple days a lot less awkward than it would have been if I had to explain his presence to a roommate.
'Hello stranger who I've just met, this strange man who could be a murderer for all you know is going to stay with me until he can move into his dorm at Berkeley.'
Yeah, I'm sure that would have gone over well.
"How do you think the horses are doing?" Tyler asks, turning down the radio.
With both of our schools being quite a ways from Tyler's farm, we decided to board Alice, Scarlett, and Rhett in a barn halfway between us so that we'd still be able to see them (and each other) on a regular basis.
"I'm sure they're fine," I assure. "I'll call Christine later tonight to find out how they're settling in."
Christine, the barn manager, was very helpful when we dropped the horses off today and assured me I could call if I had any questions or concerns.
With Tyler and I being akin to overprotective parents when it comes to the horses though, I doubt she's expecting the multitude of calls I'm sure we'll be making to her in the near future.
"I think I know where we are! I recognize this from orientation," I say, excitement bubbling inside of me. "Park over there."

After we've gotten my room key and lugged my boxes upon boxes of belongings up four flights of stairs (because it never occurred to anyone to invest in an elevator, despite the $40,000 per year tuition), we're both absolutely exhausted.
"So, I'm thinking," I start, wiping the back of my hand over my sweaty forehead, "we put off unpacking until tomorrow, shower, and order a pizza."
He grins widely at me.
"I love you," he chuckles, lightly pecking my lips.
