It was midnight, the time flew since i locked eyes with her.
My phone starts ringing, it was my dad. I got off the table and went outside to answer the call. I knew it could not be good.
- Hey Juggie!
- Hey dad, everything ok?
- Yeah son, I just wanted to tell you you might not want to crash at home tonight, your old man got a date with this fox and she-
- Ok dad, nevermind.
- Love you son! Sleep at Archie's or something. You can crash here if you want to but don't complain about the noise!
-Forget it dad, I'll be fine. See you.
I sat on the sidewalk and just took deep breaths for a little bit. I was so sick and tired of these shits FP would put me through. The world became silent, I could only hear my thoughts. Why does he always do this? Why can't I have a normal dad? Does he even care about me? I wish I could know the answers to all these questions. Suddenly I hear a sweet unfamiliar voice. It was Betty.
- Jughead? Are you ok? - she said.
- Uh? Yeah, thanks, don't worry. I'll be back inside in a minute.
- I can tell you need a friend right now. Let me help. - she insisted.
- Ok, i guess. It's my dad. He's so irresponsible. - I didn't want to put her through all of this drama but she was right, I needed someone to talk to.
- Can you explain all about it while you walk me home? It's kinda late and I don't know the city yet. - she asked.
- Sure. Where do you live? - I asked, getting up while reaching my hand out for hers to help her get up. She took my hand and everything seemed better for a second.
- On April Street, house 318. - she said while she checked the adress on her phone.
- Are you kidding? We're next door neighbours! - i said like i just won the lottery.
- Oh my god! Let's go then, neighbour!
The walk from Pop's to her and my house was about 20 minutes so we talked about all the drama with my dad and me and she listened very carefully, gave her best advice and never looked bored, eventhough not anyone would want to end their night talking about other people's family feuds. We got to her house and she asked:
- So your dad is banging some woman in there, why won't you crash on my house? My parents went back to Ohio to get the rest of our stuff and they won't be back for 4 days, you can sleep here if you want and I would like to have some company anyways.
- Are you cool with it? - I asked.
-Totally, come in.
