Light filtered through the curtains, blinding me as I slowly opened my eyes.
Where was I ? And slowly the memories of last night surfaced. And I sighed. I'd been here for less than a day and I had already created a scene.
Get it together Robin.
Dragging myself out of bed, I slipped into my slippers and trudged down the stairs.
Everyone was already sitting down at the table, cereal scattered over the table surface, as they shoved food into their mouth.
"Well look who finally woke up!" A girl said, pulling her multicoloured dreadlocks into a ponytail.
I sent her a quick glare before, taking a seat at the back of the table. They had more types of cereal choices then I'd ever seen. As I grabbed a red apple from the wooden fruit bowl, May-Li started talking.
" I'm sorry, but last night we never got to properly introduce ourselves to you, so why don't everyone go around the table saying their name, age and favourite hobby," she stated in some attempt to fix the obvious tension that was created last night.
Pulling on my best attempt at a smile," that sounds like a brilliant plan," I replied. I must be quite a good actor if I say so myself because May-li ate it up with no hesitation. And that is how I was introduced to everyone.
When it reached me, I looked up again, " my name is Robin I'm 15 and I like football and ballet," I muttered under my breath and the interrogation moved into the person next to me, Bailey.
Thank god I was saved from the torture, hen Mike pulled me aside. When we reached his office, I felt like I was on a high. Their in front of me sat my brother, looking completely out of scene, sitting on a patched up old couch flicking through a kids book.
When the door opened he looked up, his eyes holding mine, before scrabbling up engulfing me in a hug. Fact my brother is almost double the size of me, so when I say he engulfed me in a hug, I mean I was completely trapped between his arms.
As he pulled back he looked down on me before ruffling my hair. I hate it when he touches my hair.
As I attempted to flatten my hair again, key word attempted, Mike explained how Grant was allowed to take me out for the day and I must be back before 6pm.
And with those parting words, Grant whisked me outside.
"You've grown"
"Yeah"
He was keeping something from me. I knew it. And he knew I knew. And I knew he knew I knew. And he knew I knew that he knew that I knew. If you understand, or I might just be insane. Probably the later.
Grant spared me a glance before continuing, " You saw the news didn't you," I slowly nodded, before he started again ," it means your safe ok, SHEILD is gone nothing bad will happen to you now. You won't have to move anymore," A secret tear fell, than another, until for the second time in two days I was crying, He wrapped me in another hug.
We were free. I was free.
I pulled back and smiled. I have waited for this day all my life. Waited until that bastard organisation no longer hunted us. I knew my brother was still keeping a secret from me, but I didn't care we were free from the SHEILD shackles that had kept us prisoner all our lives were gone.
Gone. Destroyed.
And I knew Grant would stop at nothing to keep it that way.Sorry I know it was terrible. I just really wanted to show that Ward could be caring and kind and not a complete psychopath.
