New A/N I am redoing this book and hope you enjoy this new and improved first chapter.

Ravana K.

I walk to my bowl my blue dress flowing behind me with every step, my black hair swaying left and right. Grabbing the knife on the stand, I slice open my hand the boy in front of me doing the same. We let our blood drip into the bowl, it mixes into the water and we share a look of disappointment. How many more times will I have to do this? Will I find them tonight?

Lost in thought I slice my hand once more, my blood hits the water, and the other person's blood drops fusing with mine. I look up to see a girl in a sleek red dress with caramel skin and curly untamed hair adorning her shoulders. Freezing in place I begin to panic as I look back and forth between the bowl and the girl in front of me. Her glossy lips part and close without a sound passing through. I guess we're both at a loss for words.

She's the one?

"So you're the one?" she says looking me up and down, "Well damn."

I feel my chest tighten and suddenly I lose my ability to breathe. I can't let them see this. They can't see this. My chest rises and falls rapidly as I take short shallow breaths. Okay, calm down. It's okay they can't see it from here if I just walk away they won't think anything about it. Before I can move to another bowl the instructor quickly walks over peeking into the bowl. Shit.

The instructor grips her microphone and happily announces, "Ladies and gentlemen we have a new pair to announce! Another werewolf has found their mate. Congratulations...Ravana Kanekeri and.....Adruinna Hymphire!"

My face pales as I look at the crowd frantically looking for my parents. Please have gone to the bathroom. Please. Please. I spot their faces and I flee, I pick up the skirt of my dress to not trip and take off running. Fleeing from the large auditorium through a side door I collapse into the wet cold grass crying and shaking. Why? My parents will never forgive me for this. How could I ruin this? I had everything in order. I made it to the top of all my classes, I focused on school, and I'm a great daughter. I never did anything to deserve this. Why did this happen to me? I sob into my hands knowing for a fact my mascara is running from the black smudges on my palms.

The door out of the auditorium swings open, and the girl comes out followed by my parents and two other adults. She looks down at me with what seems to be concern.

"Ravana! Get up you're going to dirty your dress", my mother says rushing to me, dusting off my dress and quickly cleaning my face up with a handkerchief. My father stands there silently looking at me with a stagnant face as always.

He redirects his gaze to the other two adults who I'm guessing are her parents. "We can organize this to stay out of the media. The reporters and journalists will be paid off to keep this silent, we already have the situation under control", my father explains.

"Good", the woman says, "It would be bothersome. What do you suppose we do about their school. It's customary for mates to live in the same dorm after these events."

"They will still board together, but that is where that relationship ends", my father states, "Adruinna and Ravana will be nothing more than two students sharing a dorm."

Do I have to be roommates with a Hymphire? Isn't it bad enough that she's my mate, but she has to be from the Hymphire clan aswell?

The adults converse while she and I stand silently, letting them make the decisions. Soon enough they get their stuff in order taking us back home. We walk through the door my mother turns to me, "We will move you into the dorm tomorrow." with that she leaves and my father doesn't say anything at all.

Carefully balancing two boxes stacked in my arms I make my way up the stairs and not being able to see anything in front of me I ram into something. The boxes tumble from my arms and I fall back landing on my butt.

"Are you alright?". I hear a voice ask. Looking down the hallway where my dorm is I match the voice to Adruinna who stands by the door not lifting a finger to help.

"I'm fine", I say not bothering to look at her as I gather my boxes making my way into the dorm. I move past her setting my boxes down before going through them and putting the stuff away. The apartment already has the necessities like furniture and a queen-sized bed in the bedroom. When I got here this morning Adruinna's stuff was already there but she was nowhere to be found. I guess now she wanted to make an appearance as I'm unpacking the last boxes. I look her over, she's wearing a worn-out band shirt and black skinny jeans, her unruly hair in a messy bun. I see she doesn't put in too much effort.

"Do you want a picture, it'll last longer", she teases with a grin plastered to her face. She's cocky.

"No, I'm good." I look out the window, golden light flowing into the room from the setting sun. "It's getting late, I don't know about you but I'm going to bed."

"You're not going to eat first? I ordered pizza, should be here in the next five minutes", Adruinna questions.

"I'm not hungry", I quickly respond before heading to bed, closing the door. The truth is I'm too stressed to eat. I lay in bed staring at the ceiling as I try to fall asleep, I hear the pizza guy come and a few minutes later Adruinna comes in quietly.

"Are you still awake?", she whispers.

"Yes", I say not bothering to whisper.

"You know I just realized that there is only one bed, mind if we share, or do you want me on the couch?"

"It's fine if we share." She's decently tall. A girl her height doesn't need to sleep on the couch and get more back problems. "Just stay on one side."

"Cool."

She climbs into bed adjusting before calming down and drifting off into sleep while I stay awake. This little arrangement is going to be interesting.
