Chapter 2:
I was sitting on the couch with the bowl of ice cream in my hands. Then I heard my phone ring. ‘You got a message!’
I paused the T.V that was playing SpongeBob Squarepants and got up off the couch to get my phone from the counter. Unknown Number. I thought that it might be Noah so I opened up the text.
-‘Hey Smith. Guess who. :)’ I rolled my eyes at his attempt to hide who he is.
~’Hey Jones -_-‘
-‘How did you know it was me?! :O’
~’1,you said that you would text me like 10 minutes earlier and 2, you are the only person who calls me Smith.’
-‘Ooh… well whatever. Anyway wanna hang out? I’m bored.’
~’Why don’t you just go and pick up girls like you usually do?’
-‘I feel like doing something different, come over. Please?’ Should I go over? I mean a couple of hours wouldn’t hurt right? Besides it’s not like something will happen between us.
~’Okayy sure. I’ll be there in about 10.’
-‘Awesome! I’ll be waiting!’
I finished up my bowl of deliciousness and washed it. I headed upstairs to get changed into something more comfortable. I put on my ripped blue jean shorts, my ‘Love Pink’ hoodie, and black converse. I pulled my red messy hair into a bun on top of my head. Later I’m gonna put in some bright blue streaks. If you ask me I think it will look pretty cool beans. I grabbed my phone and texted my mom saying that I will be at a friends house across the street and asked her if she can get me bright blue hair dye. I don’t know if I should tell her that I’m going over to a guys house. She might flip out and start a 20 questions game. I don’t need that right now, especially since I probably won’t know the answer to any of the questions.
‘Sure hon. Just make sure that you’re home for dinner ok. Have a good time!’
I replied with a quick ‘okayy’ and started heading down stairs. I made sure that the T.V was off and that everything else was either off, closed, and/or locked. I checked if I had my phone and walked out of the house and locked the door behind me.
I walked over to Noah’s house since it was like literally 3 or 4 houses away. I came up his driveway preparing for the worst. I was just about to knock when Noah swings the door up. I stepped back surprised at what just happened. Noah stepped aside gesturing me inside. I walked and was frozen with amazement. His house was actually really clean. I expected the place to be trashed and smelly and just plain gross. Boy was I wrong! Everything was organized and spotless. This, right here right now, is an example of ‘don’t judging a book by it’s cover’. While I was in my trance, Noah noticed that I was surprised and took my arm pulling me towards the living room.
“Come on,” he sighed. “let’s go.”
I snapped out of my trance and sat on the couch, still taking in my surrounds. I looked over to the walls and saw a bunch of pictures hanging. Some was of Noah, some of his parents, and some of Noah with his parents and friends. I looked at his t.v screen, it was pretty big so I’m guessing it’s a 72 inch, gotta be. Below it I was even more amazed at all the game systems that he has. A Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, Playstation, Playstation 2,3, AND 4. He also has all the Xbox stuff but I could care less about Xbox, I like the Playstations. I went over to see what types of games he had. Skyrim, Call Of Duty, Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, and Mario games. There were old games like Banjo and Kazooie and The Legend of Zelda. I was officially in gamer heaven.
“A-are these all y-yours?” I stuttered trying to contain my excitement. I heard a chuckle escape from Noah as he looked at me.
“Yeah. Like what you see?” Just by hearing how he talked I could tell that there was a smirk on his face. I didn’t have to look at him to know. I nodded vigorously before turning my head towards him and just like I said, there was that signature smirk plastered across his face.
“Can we play? Please?!” I asked while I jumped up to my feet. Noah laughed and nodded walking towards me sitting down. I sat down next to him deciding what game to play. Right now I felt confident, so I wanted to pick a game that I know I was good at so that I can beat him and laugh at his face. I scanned the games and one game specific game caught my eye. The perfect game. A smirk grew on my face as I took the game off the shelf.
“Mortal Kombat.” I said with my head turned towards Noah with a smirk across my lips. He looked surprised at my decision. But that was only for a brief second when a smirk spread across his face looking just like mine.
“You sure? I don’t want a pretty girl like you crying home because you lost a game.”
“Oh I won’t be the one crying when we finish this.” Noah raised his eyebrow at me. He looked just as amused as me.
“It’s on Smith.”
I was dumbfounded. There was actually someone who could beat me at Mortal Kombat. I mean I even beat my dad and brother and they were the best players that I have ever played against. Noah just beat me for about the 20th time today. I’m over here shocked and confused while Noah is laughing his butt off like there’s no tomorrow. You can see tears starting to weal up in his eyes. I raised my hand to the side to make it look like I will slap him.
“Shut up before I slap you silly!” By me saying this it just made him laugh harder. I sent him my best threatening glare but that didn’t really work. It just made him laugh even more, if that was even possible. I stood up and started walking towards the kitchen, but not before I stopped by Noah’s side to kick him. I felt accomplished when I earned an ‘ouch’ from him and continued walking.
I opened up his fridge to see if he had anything to drink. I grabbed a water bottle and closed the fridge. I turned around to see that Noah was right behind me. I gasped and jumped back a bit surprised at how close he was to me. “Don’t scare me like that Noah!” I said poking my finger into his chest and took a step back.
“Why not?” He asked as he took a step closer to me. He words sounded so husky and sexy that it sent shivers down my spine, the good kind of shivers. Noah noticed and took a step closer to me while I took another step back hitting the fridge. Darn fridge. He put his hands on the sides of me so that I was trapped and couldn’t move. Darn him. My heart started beating like crazy and I’m pretty sure that he can either hear or feel it. Darn heart.
“B-because…” I looked into his brown dreamy eyes and found myself completely lost in them. I tried to search for a reason to tell him but I couldn’t find one. We remained silent for what felt like forever.
“Because what?” Noah raised his eyebrow playfully as he leaned in closer to me. He was close enough for me to feel his breath on me. I felt a sudden want in me. I resisted and pushed the feeling deep down hoping that he didn’t notice my sudden reaction. He leaned in even more closer and to my surprise I leaned in as well. He’s going to kiss me! Holy poop holy poop holy poop! Right when our noses touched my phone went off. Noah backed away and looked surprised at what he was just about to do. I looked at my phone seeing the text from my mom.
‘Uh do you you plan on coming home anytime today?!’
I looked over to the clock and noticed to time. “Oh gosh! It’s 5:30! I gotta go, see you tomorrow Jones!” I heard a faint ‘See ya’ come from Noah as I ran out the door. I soon remembered what was about to happen back at his house and I felt my cheeks start to heat up. No Mia! This is not happening! You are not starting to like him! NO! Oh yes you are. Don’t lie to yourself now. No I’m not! Shut up voice in my head! Whatevs. I arrived at the house to be greeted by my brother Neil yelling,“Finally! I’m hungry! Hurry up Mia. I’m ready to stuff my face!”
