Chapter 3 goodbye

Eren's POV:

I know have my mission. My assignment is to take out the leader of the Titans. I also have to take out 4 of her main underlings. My parents informed me that this should take at least a month to do. But they said it could very well take longer. Before I act I also have to uncover some information and bring it back for the client. This....... Isn't going to be easy, but when it's all over i can finally be free to live a normal life.

I was leaving this afternoon, so I have to get packing. Tonight I'm staying at the Sina hotel before finding a motel or small apartment. I may be able to start my work tonight by seducing and staying with a gang member. Ha like that'll ever happen. Sure we were trained in the art of seduction, of course but I don't know how believable I'll be in the field.

"Hey Eren! Can I talk to you" I heard Mikasa yell from the other room. "Sure" I yelled back. ".....well come here idiot" she laughed. "Oh" I get up and walking into her room. She sitting on her bed holding a key on a string. A necklace I think.

She pats the bead next to her telling me to have a seat. "What's that" I ask giving her a confused look. "It's an heirloom that's been in moms family for generations." she replies lightly tracing her fingers over the key. "It's supposed to be given to the eldest child on the day when they set out for their first assassination, and......I'm giving it to you." She said holding out the necklace for me.

I took me a few seconds to understand what she was saying but then it hit me. "What!! No, Mikasa this is yours. It's a gift from mom, you keep it." I said pushing the key away. All of the sudden tears started streaming down her face. "M-Mikasa what's wrong! Why are you crying! You never cry! Is this about the key? You know I'll just lose it anyways" I stammered startled by the show of 'weakness' my sister was exhibiting. In our house crying and displaying and weaknesses was strictly forbidden.

I stood up to go get tissues when Mikasa pulled me into a tight hug. "I-I just don't want you to leave me Eren" she whispered. Those words hit me hard. For one I had never seen Mikasa like this. The pit in my stomach was growing, for the first time since I had decided to leave, I thought about them, my family, my two siblings who loved me, the home I was leaving behind. I clenched my fist, fighting back tears and returned the hug.

"Hey Eren! You gotta go!" My mom yelled. I hesitated for a second "coming!" I yelled back. Mikasa released me from the hug looking gloomy. "It's ok Kasa I'll..... be home soon, so don't worry too much." She gave me a small smile and I returned it reassuring her.

Armin hugged me as I was headed out the door, as did my mom, my father however was nowhere to be found. I waved back at them as the cab drove away. "Goodbye, I'm.....sorry" I whispered to myself, finally giving up and letting the tears come.
