I followed the frantic woman down the hill with Erik right behind me the whole time. As we ran, I saw our destination, a little stone house on the edge of town. The baker could pay for a huge house so it was surprising to see this small house he picked. We ran inside and I saw the little boy on a cot coughing blood. I sent Erik to my house to get my bag. When he ran out the door, I started to examine my patient. I looked at the bloody bucket he was throwing-up in. This was bad if it was what I thought it was then I would have to work quickly.

Erik comes running in, trinkets from the human world end up here and I use some to help me heal. Each one makes my job just a bit easier. One might think that I would just use my powers than they are good but healing is a very difficult process. I grab the quizal and look in his eyes. This helps magnify when you look through it, eyes are the windows to not just the soul but medical problems as well.

I look just in the corner of his eyes, they are blood red. The signs are there; it is bad he has alligator pox. It only happens to fairies and well it is contagious. I check the woman, kit and Erik for the signs and then kick them out. The pox is known to happen more often to the young and many have died from it. Some of his blood is maturing and altering for his wings to come. All fairies used to survive this like it was a common cold but times have changed. Most fairies now don't hold the power to shrink and fly. Matt's wings want to come but it has to decide not to fight itself killing Matt. A fairy's wings are too thin to fly without shirking.

We may be a small port town but news travels fast especially when it was to do with a fairy powerful enough to shrink and fly. Each and every year the ability disappears more and more. I find the vial I was looking for and measure it out into a tiny dose. I give it to the boy, not letting a drop escape his mouth. It is hard to find half of the ingredients that this medicine uses.

After it starts to heal his body, I use my healing. It starts off really slow and I fear that I am too late. Waves of my power flow around the room. I feel the root of the problem, it started at his heart. I multiply the new blood faster. It takes all my energy and I slump down onto the floor and rest, he should be fine for a while. When I awake I start it again and again, each time falling asleep after a long healing. I am covered in his blood everything in this room is. Time had passed in so many increments that I had long-lost what day it was.

The pox had healed mostly and it was now time to just let it heal on its own. My tattoo or whatever it was still glowing from the healing. It always glowed when I did a healing. It consists of dots making mini-galaxies on my arm swirling around. I left the room finally since he is stable and I really need to eat. Erik waits for me slumped against the wall. I sit down next to him, and he looks at me and gasps. I look at him as trying to figure out what is wrong, maybe I have dark circles under my eyes. "Your tattoo is glowing and moving" he stuttered. I chuckled, I was so tired. "I just finished a healing so it is still glowing" I admitted, "it still moves around when it is not glowing but it is more notable when it glows". He laughed and called me a glow worm, I guess I am.

I lay against him as sleep drags me down into a dreamless sleep. I slightly wake from my sleep only to be dragged down again. Waking up took me forever, I woke but was too tired to move or even open my eyes. After a while, I opened my eyes and saw Erik's face above me. I was still laying on the ground but now my head was in his lap. I stood up and the room spun around me. Erik grabbed my arm and kept me upright. He led me somewhere and I just sleepily followed. As we stopped I sat in the chair in front of me and slowly ate the food on the plate. I awoke and got up and tried to find Matt. Erik soon stopped and asked me where I thought I was going. "I got to check on Matt, what if he needs me" I explained. I soon found the room but no Matt was to be found. Panic mode set in and I ran around trying to find my patient.

Once I did I breathed a sigh of relief, Matt was playing around in the dirt. "Matt, will you come here please" Matt looked at me and nodded. I looked in his eyes and sent him on his way, he was good to go. I then realized that I didn't know what has been going on, how long was I out did something happen while I was gone. So, Erik told me what had happened.

"Well, let us see; first you were in that room for four days, I wanted to enter but Kit told me no. After you came out at two in the afternoon and slept until morning when you woke up. I tried to leave but you almost woke when I moved and I wanted to let you sleep. Nothing went on in the town, I told the Chief what you were doing, so it won't be counted against you".

After I had digested all the information, I went to check on Matt's mother. She is always sick and so is one of my constant patients. When I went into her room, a smile reached my face as I saw her reading a book in bed, looking less pale than usual. I said hi then left to leave her in peace. I think it is time to go to bed, I am tired.
