"You celebrate the birth of him with an evergreen tree?" The angel asked, undoubtedly confused.
"Yes." Sam replies, returning with a glass of a white liquid that Dean had declined when offered some.
"Would you like some Cas?" Dean asks as Sam takes a swig from the glass in his large hands. Castiel shakes his head in a polite nod and returns to the small ornament that Dean had placed in his hand a few minutes before. It was an angel. Her wings folded neatly behind her as she held an open book in her hands. He scrunched up his nose and muttered something in the old language.
"What was that Cas?" Dean asks, not even bothering to glance over his shoulder to peek at him while speaking.
"Nothing." he responded, pouting a bitIn about an hour or so, they had properly -partially- put together a somewhat nice arrangement of Christmas lights they had bought from a nearby store and had a medium sized tree which held the small amount of ornaments they had.
Sam had sat down the empty cup into the sink since they finished and was beginning to rummage through the small cardboard box, mumbling something about 'an angel'
"Maybe we left it in the car?" Dean suggested, pulling the taller man off of the ground. Sam nodded suggestively, and turned to Castiel.
"We'll be outside. just stay in here... ok?" he said, pausing a moment before nodding and walking briskly out the door, Dean on his heels. That's when Cas got an idea.
The two brothers re-entered the motel room with a small plastic angel which was supposedly to stay atop the tallest bough of the tree.
"Good god, where'd he go now- Cas! what the hell are you doing? get down before you kill yourself- oh you know what I mean!" Dean shouted, tossing the plastic angel onto one of the beds, flailing his arms about as Sam just chuckled to himself as Castiel sat atop the tree, wobbling as he just barely managed to keep himself upright.
"You told me you needed an angel on the top so I thought I'd do it to save you trouble..." Cas muttered, transporting back to the carpeted ground in the blink of an eye. Dean was left there staring up at where Cas was just a moment ago, a blank stare plastered upon his face.
"Aww... See Dean? he really does love you!" Sam teased, slinging an arm around Cas' shoulders and giving him a sideways smile while handing him a neatly wrapped box. Cas smiled and ran over to the door, flinging it open and rushing to the impala. when he returned, he flung a box towards each brother.
"Merry Christmas you idjits." he smirked, walking up to them and wrapping his arm around Dean's shoulders.
