"Jenifer Joanne Lane! Get your arse down here now!" My mom yelled up the stairs, I rolled my eyes and I grabbed my phone shoving it into my cookie monster jumper. I guess I'll have to pack later. I skipped down the stairs and I met my annoyed mother at the bottom. She was wearing her special black dress that my Dad got her with her ruby necklace which matched her open toed heels, her blonde hair was done in a really neat bun with a little fringe at the front which was kept in place by a back clip, she looked so beautiful.
"What?" I asked raising an eyebrow, as far as I'm concerned I haven't done anything wrong since two years ago, the last thing I did wrong was prank my brother, it wasn't my fault that, that prick walked into his room where I had supposedly had put a bucket of rotten eggs and flour above his door.
"'I've been calling you for five minutes to come and eat with everyone else! It's not every day my little princess goes to university," She said squeezing my cheeks, oh God! "Come on honey, turn that frown upside down," She sang pulling me in for a hug; she gave me a warm smile before pushing me towards the kitchen. I sighed walking into the kitchen to see a few members of my family huddled around the little table.
"Jo!" My older brother Matt yelled standing up and running up to me and embracing me in a hug. I hugged him back; to be honest I've missed Matt. I haven't seen him in ages; he went to university in New York in America.
"Matt! What are you doing here! I thought you were staying with Stacy and her parents in Canada," I gasped pulling him in for another hug, I pulled away and I examined him, it was obvious that he had been working out because he looked more masculine than he did the last time I saw him. He looked more tanned, well I guess the sunny streets of New York are better than the cloudy streets of Wolverhampton.
"I wanted to see my little sis before she goes to university, is that such a bad thing?" He exclaimed looking insulted. I wasn't convinced, I crossed my arms over my chest and I glared at him, "Okay, so maybe her parents cancelled it and re-scheduled it for next week," He blushed looking at the ground.
"Yeah, that sounds more like it," I replied taking a seat in-between Matt and my Auntie.
"Why are you always expecting the worse from me?" Matt complained grabbing a plate, I rolled my eyes and I ignored him.
I gave my Aunt a quick hug before grabbing a plate from the middle of the middle of the table. I grabbed some roast potatoes, some chicken, stuffing, carrots and some mashed potatoes before I flooded my whole plate with gravy. I grinned at my pate as I grabbed my fork and knife.
"You're such a pig!" Matt teased nudging me in the rib. I ignored him again remembering why I played that prank on him years ago, he is just so annoying! He may be three years older than be but that doesn't give him any right to piss me off like that.
"So where are you going to Uni?" My uncle asked shoving a fork full of food in his mouth. I laughed at his massive cheeks but I pulled myself together.
"I'm going to the one in Staffordshire, I was going to go to the one in Birmingham but I preferred Staffordshire's Journalism course," I smiled dabbing a roast potato in gravy. Matt was about to say something but I stomped on his foot under the table, he screamed causing Mom to yell at him for about ten minutes.
I had to bite my cheek to stop myself from laughing. Matt glared at me as my mom was putting the plates into the dishwasher. "Honestly Matt, I don't know what's gotten into you since you left for University you turned into a whole different person," She started.
I stood up and I took a fork from her, "Why don't you all go into the living room and I'll finish cleaning up," I offered placing in the dishwasher.
