The fresh air whipped my hair, once a large roof came into view. More, slowly appeared but it only made me think it was our new school. Father slowed his driving and pulled up to the place. Grace smiled while i frowned.
Why can't the boys also go to a boarding school? Why only us? Father got our suitcases out as we jumped off of the motorcycle, creating a mini crash, between sand and dirt, spilling it into the air. Father handed us our stuff as a woman with tight clothes walked out. "Ah Mr Harris," The lady put her hand out for a hand shake, Father shaking it quickly. "These must be Hayley and Grace then, I'm Miss Whyte, please walk through the doors, i'll meet you there soon, NOW!" She yelled. I obeyed her with Grace, who started to obey her sooner.
Grace and i opened the heavy but very creaky doors, i swear Miss Whyte never made a sound. She probably was waiting for us, creep. Grace walked in, nearly crashing into a girl looking our age. "Watch it," She growled, speeding past.
I sighed, watching as Miss Whyte came over to us, holding small papers with our names on it.Miss Whyte showed us our room, she also told us to settle in. "What a goof-"
"Hayley!" Grace said, her back turned as she took her stuff out. Grace had settled in within five minutes, me just piling it all on the floor. A brief set off knocks sounded at the door, making me jump a bit. Grace answered it, to a girl with a long French braid and a large suitcase. "Is this room 289?" I shrugged as Grace nodded. "Because i was told this is... My new room," She smiled and walked in. Well now i understand why there is three beds, instead of two. She threw her stuff onto her bed, quickly un-packing as i did. We all shoved our clothes into the tight wardrobe, which had mold on the insides of the doors.
"Oh by the way my name is Madeleine,"
"Grace,"
"Hayley," I sighed as i walked out. I poked my head back in, realizing i had no idea where the toilets are. I walked back out, hesitating to close the door and walked down the corridor. I walked on and on until i walked past a wall with pictures. It looked like past students, wearing the most ugliest clothes ever.
I continued to walk when i bumped into something, or someone? I gasped looking up, to a figure smiling and dressed in nicer clothes than what the students in the pictures were wearing. "Oh, you shouldn't be down here," She said, grabbing my shoulder, and guiding me where i just came back from.I was dumped in front of a door, that said female toilets and showers and baths. In other words, where i wanted to be. i ducked in, did my business, and trailed back out. I was lost, with nothing to take me back to my room. I moved forward, walking with a bunch of older kids. My hair bobbed with them, as some flurried past, creating whooshes of air.
By the time i got back to my room, it was dinner time. It suddenly made me realise i wanted to eat, i was starving. We followed the older kids, and by we i mean Madeleine, Grace and i, to the dining hall. It had paintings that spiraled through the walls, with dot paintings to. With one big long table, connected by at least 100 separate tables, that filled most of the room. The chairs were all organised, with napkins on the seats, it all looked fancy. The tables had glass cups, filled half way with juice probably and the plates, looked so amazing.
We were all told to sit down, and not chat. One of the teachers, stood up on a chair and started to yell. "I am very well informed that most of our students here have fitted back in?"
"Yes Mrs Knight," Se got down and Miss Whyte informed us to line up for food. I got all excited when one girl came back with the worst thing i have seen. It was brown and infested with lumps and a fork half damaged.
"Miss Whyte only used her special whole school cutlery because of the younger students, cos they are new you see," i heard a blond girl in front of me. My twin sister, Grace, stood behind me talking a great deal to Madeleine. They talked for what seemed like hours, even though it was only a few minutes and sometimes even asked for my opinion. I held out my plate to receive my food my dinner. Gruel, with lumpy bits.I sat down and stabbed my fork in it and quickly noticed a spoon beside my glass cup. I picked it up and stuffed myself silly, even though it tasted terrible i had to eat. I was later joined by Grace and Madeleine and we all had a conversation to get to know one another. Madeleine was a horse rider and her father was going to send her money every week to get lollies. She also told us that through the year we would be going to a campsite 100 meters from the school, if not in the school. it actually sounded quite cool, since it meant we would not be stuck here forever. Or at least until we finished school. "Then next year we will get to go to a hotel, apparently 10km away! Hayley what are you doing?" I looked up and showed her i was making a list of where we were going, because then we could ask our father several weeks in advance.
Madeleine also talked about her four siblings, which happened to be all boys, and they were went to a boys boarding school as well as her. "Because then father won't have to worry about taking us to places the school will!" She got up as I did, so we could put our plates away then get ready for bed.
