CHAPTER 1 》 Uncomfortable feeling

Cath left me with Marion after that. I ignored his presence as I started unpacking my things. I exerted extra time and effort in organazing my stuffs.

I flinched when I heard his voice. "What course are you taking?"

I gazed up and stare at him. "M-massCom." I whispered.

I heard him mumble words I couldn't hear and understand. "Shall I go?" My eyebrows met each other.

Why is he even asking for my permission?

I looked away, getting myself busy with folding my clothes. "It's not like I need you around here." I bit my lips when my words slipped. I looked at him with his face filled with unknown emotion.

"That's not what I mean.."

He nodded his head. "I'll get going. Enjoy the unit by yourself." Then he stormed out of the room.

I suddenly felt more comfortable and relax by having the whole space for myself.

It was late already, close into midnight and Marion was nowhere to be found. I wonder where is or where he'd stay. I rolled myself on the bed and face the blue empty bed on the other side of the unit.

I sighed and closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.

I woke up hearing the door creaks open. I rubbed my eyes and looked at Marion who just went inside the unit looking so rugged. Without any word he took his stuffs and went inside the bathroom. I rolled my eyes and hug my pillow and went back to sleep. I don't have classes today anyways.

I was roaming around the school's cafeteria when someone suddenly dragged me to seat into a table. It was Lyza. She was with Thaddeus and another boy and girl. Marion was also sitting along the table. "Come and eat with us." Lyza smiled as she seats beside me.

"I heard you're Marion's newest room mate." The man with orange wavy hair spoke.

My forehead creased and look at Marion who was eating while busy talking to the girl with a golden brown hair. Did he just shared to everyone that I am his room mate?

I rolled my eyes and look at the guy. "I don't see that it's a part of your business."

He hold up his two hands. "Chillax, woman." He smiled making his eyes squint. "Jeremy is my name."

"And that girl over there," Lyza pointed the girl beside Marion. "That's Rose. Marion's girlfriend."

So Marion has a girlfriend huh? Well, that answers why he doesn't want to share the unit with me. Good thing the feeling was mutual.

We ate lunch together with them throwing questions that were not so personal and them throwing jokes that would make me smile and chuckle. At the end, I felt comfortable with them a little. Lyza and Jeremy were such an angel.

When I got back in the unit, I spend my time typing a manuscript in my laptop. Writing stories were my escape plan from the cruel reality. Every strand of anxiety and stress would be out of my system whenever my imagination works on my stories.

I was busy typing when my phone started ringing.

Aunt Carmen is Calling...

I smiled and quickly answered the call. "Hey! I missed you already."

[Same here, Sweety. The house feels empty without you.]

I giggled with her sweet words. "Are we meeting each other this Saturday? You know I could get out of the campus during weekends and visiting here in the unit is allowed during Fridays."

[You know I'm busy around weekdays. I'll see you this Saturday for your treatment, okay?]

"Aye aye."

[Anyways, tell me about the campus. Did you made friends already? Was the unit pretty? Did you get along with your room mate?]

I bit my lip. Shall I tell her I am sharing the unit with a male specie? I sighed. "The campus was big and beautiful. I'm not good in making friends but yeah, I have some few. And the Unit? It's cozy and relaxing. About my room mate, I don't know. You know I don't get comfortable with someone that easily."

We talked for a few more minutes before she decided to finally hang up.

Carmen is my mother's sister. She took me in as her own when I lost my parents. She's not just an Aunt to me but also a friend, sister and a mother. She was the one who offered me to do treatment for my trauma and anxiety.

---

I was surprised to see Marion around his desk when I got back into the Unit after my Tuesday class. It's been a week since I last saw him come to the unit. He was busy typing on his laptop that he didn't noticed my presence.

I put my bag down on my bed. "You're here."

"Obviously." He answered back.

I bit my lip as silence filled the room. It suddenly felt cold and uncomfortable. I started playing with my fingers while sitting on my bed and looking down. I hate this kind of feeling.

I thank all the saints that I know when I heard Marion's voice, breaking the silence. "I wonder why you get so comfortable with Thad and the others while you get this shy around me." I looked up at him and saw him looking at me as well.

I opened my mouth and about to talk when he spoke once again. "Don't bother to explain, you obviously had your own space when you're alone." He smiled a bit and stood up. "Well, I'll get going now. See you in Journalism class. tomorrow."

"Journalism class? Are you in Mass Communication as well?" My eyebrows met one another.

He cocked his head and grin. "Why do you think we shared the same unit?"

I averted my gaze from him. "How come I never see you around?"

He chuckled. "You were seated on the front while I was on the way back of the room. I'm always busy watching your back, ya know?"

"That's creepy." I whispered but enough for him to hear.

He surpassed a soft laugh and I was left in daze when he ruffled my hair before going out of the room.
