[Chapter 3: Being Educated]
*This chapter will be a bit boring with the necessary descriptions, introducing new people and other crap. Just hang on for the few chapters and I'm sure you won't hate it too bad 😊😊😊.*
Oh by the way, the grammar will get fixed eventually so anyone who is a stickler for perfectly punctuated stuff might wanna skip...well, all of it. Sorry!
Clenching the handwritten hard copy of my schedule in my hand, I made my way down the west wing of Crosswell, with my head held high and the incident in the office pushed to the back of my mind.
The bell had rung earlier as I made my way up the grand staircase and the few students that were around me suddenly scurried into class like their life depended on it. Looking around, I noticed that one of the many clocks situated on the wall read 8:47, only 2 minutes since class started.
Walking with a purpose, I quickly found the door to my first period, Mr. Lesdon's pre-calculus class and hesitated. My hand was on the cold glass handle as my heart began to beat a little faster in my chest.
You'll be fine. Survive today and it'll be easier tomorrow. No one can hurt you. You've seen and handled worse.
I chanted the mantra a few more times before gripped the notebook in my hand even tighter, taking a deep breath and turning the glass handle with my sweaty hand.
As soon as the door was opened, a dozen pairs of eyes turned towards me in curiosity and the new girl entering the classroom, late.
But as I laid eyes on the large desk in the far corner of the room, I realized the young blond guy furiously tying away on his desktop wasn't even paying attention to the newest student in his class.
For a few moments, I stood by the open door as my new classmates took a moment to assess me. As I looked back at them with what I hoped was a straight, blush free face, I saw the layout of the room.
It looked more like a college classroom then a high-school one, aside from all the posters of course. On the side closest to me was a giant wall that was mostly taken up by a giant white board and two cork-boards on either side of it. Random flyers and a small handmade banner that said ACCORDING TO THE NUMBERS, MATH IS FUN! stapled to the top. A calendar and a full copy of the curriculum was also among the random papers around it. On the blue-grey walls were posters and fun math jokes as well as the numerical numbers for pie covering on the black wall. A huge window overlooking another building and the beautifully tended grounds was on display, letting in tons of light and giving us a great view while we worked.
