Thankfully for Mark's luck, the boy didn't talk to him the rest of the class, except for little things like "Can you move?" when he was all over the desk or "Can you give me my pencil?" when it fell while he was writing.
The punk checks his phone for the time, it was almost free period. So, he takes his pencil and starts to sketch in the corner of the paper to kill time. It's not like he's going to do something amazing, they're just a lot of spirals and things without form.
He turns to see the boy by his side; he hasn't moved in like twenty minutes and his sudden movement caught Mark's eye. The boy had taken out a little book, a greenpencil, and an eraser with a smiley cloud's form. The pencil isn't actually green, it wasblack, and 'Jack' was actually drawing. He starts drawing a circle, then an oval under it;he makes two tubes in every side... Wait a minute, he's drawing a little person. It'sreally tiny and has a really big head compared to the rest of the body. Now he's doingdetails like its face and hair. His movement it's so slow and concentrated that relaxesMark, almost making him fall asleep.
After finishing the person, he begins to draw stars, flowers, hearts and some other shit that Mark can't stand. He wants to think how stupid the drawing looks, but it's too busy trying not to close his eyes.Jack stares at his drawing and moves away to search something in his pencil case. Mark fears of being notice watching him, so he changes position, putting his head on his hand and looking the other way. He sees him in the corner of his eye; Jack seems tonot know he was staring. Returns his gaze ahead, and starts thinking in any other thing. The whole class is doing nothing anyways, the teacher won't notice him.
"Choose a color" Mark hears a voice to his side saying. He frowns, knowing already who is it, and turns his head to see him. In the Jack's hand there's three colors, a green, a pink and a violet one.
Mark seems confused. "What do you want?"
Jack shakes his head with a smile and puts the pencils in front of the punk's eyes."I want you to choose a color, it isn't that hard!"
Mark takes a look to the pencils and stares at him with an expression of 'you got to be kidding me'.
"Besides, it's just three. It could be my thirty-six pencils collection... Unless you want to see them..." Jack says excitedly and giggles.
"Ask someone else, don't be a hassle." Mark answers, returning to his position.
Jack presses his lips together while noticing how rude and impolite Mark is. He looks at the colors in his hand, slightly disappointed; he thought they could be friends... But no! Maybe he was just having a bad day. Maybe he just needed someone to talk to and tolift the spirits, right? He takes a breath to gain courage and keep talking.
"It's just... You're just beside me. And I don't know anyone here..."
"Well, look, the girls right there love talking about colors, clothes and that kind of shit, I'm sure they'll be helpful!" He points the girls at the other side of the class.
Jack looks at them sadly, knowing the guy doesn't have the intentions to be kind. "I'm not going to walk over there just for this" He answers firmly and looks at him with a frown. "Thanks anyways." Jack only keeps the green pencil and starts to paint the hair of the person in the drawing.
Mark keeps staring at him, but he's not looking at the drawing. The punk is astonished. He never thought somebody will be able to face him that way, so calm, so serious... somature. He always ended up beating the shit out of the other person, but now, the boy that had been standing by the door in complete fear at the beginning of class justput him in place. His dignity has been crushed into pieces. Not even with his disheveledhair, his black wristbands and his leather jacket, could he come up with a response.
