They both spend the whole weekend in their bedrooms except to get food and drink. They don't run into each other once. Hermione receives a letter from Ginny.

Hermione,

what happened? We haven't seen you anywhere, did you stay in your dorm?  I hope your argument wasn't too bad.

we all miss you we searched everywhere we could for you and even knocked on your dorm door several times with no response. Even Ron!  I have to know you are safe. we care about you!

please write back.

She looks at the letter, she has never felt so depressed. Not even when she broke up with Ron, not even when she obliviated her parents. Nether the less she replies.

Ginny,

I am sorry I haven't replied , nothing happened, I have stayed here for the whole weekend  and the argument was awful. You must know that I cannot tell you about it or about Draco. I have to keep my word no matter how much he hates me now. I have fallen a little ill so I cannot go to classes tomorrow. The illness has nothing to do with the argument, just a sickness. Possibly food poisoning. Don't get madam Pomfrey I already feel a little better I will stay in touch.

She seals the letter and sends her owl on its way.

On the other side of the dorm. Draco sits in the middle of his untouched floor looking at the only other drawing of her. He has another drawing beside it a drawing of him. Enchanted to lean against a broken mirror with his fists looking down at his feet and ignoring the disfigured reflection that looks back at him it hardly moves but he doesn't need it to, its an expression of the pain he felt after her deepening words. As hard as it is he reaches for a clean piece of parchment and a quill.

Professor McGonagall,

I am informing you that I will be unable to attend classes for tomorrow as I have suddenly fallen ill. I do not request for Madam Pomfrey as it will pass soon, I personally diagnosed it as food poisoning, maybe from some chicken I had last night for dinner.

Regards, Draco Malfoy.

He signed it and sent his owl out of his window in the opposite direction to Hermione's.

The day passes and they both don't do anything, not even reading. Draco on his floor head hanging and occasionally pointing his wand at his mark thinking of things that could destroy it but never having the courage to say them out loud. Whereas Hermione stays on her bed lying there with nothing in her head but apologies and scenarios where she begs for his forgiveness and he accepts using his scowling but soft smirk. A small smile creeps on her own face as she imagines this only frowning when she comes back into the real world. She doesn't even care to think why she feels so bad about this. it is Malfoy after all, then again its the fact that it is Malfoy that she feels this way. This bad. distracting her comes her owl.

Hermione,

I know how you feel , I wont get madam Pomfrey. But I will inform Professor McGonagall that you won't be in classes tomorrow. I will come and see you after classes tomorrow at five so let me in for goodness sake. I miss you mione.

Hermione writes back immediately.
