So it had been sorted. Everything was fine and I was finally beginning to feel confident. I strutted into the living room and gave my mum a tight squeeze, to which she gave me an even tighter one back.. she was holding on to me, almost like she didn't want me to go. But she knew she had to one day, not fully let me go but partially. I said my goodbyes and without hesitation, walked out the front door, gently closing it behind me.
We live on a very small estate so it was hard for the taxi to find me. I saw the black varnish swerve around the bush and pulled up nearby me. I proceeded to walk closer to the car and waved my hand to signal that it was for me. I opened the boot and shoved my emerald green suitcase inside to slam the clicker shut. I slid into the back seat and said "The train station please" the driver nodded and backed out of our drive. I looked behind me and saw my estate draw smaller and smaller as we got further away from it. It was time, time for me to have some independence.
As we arrived, I thanked the driver and shovelled some coins into his hand. I couldn't see his expression to my ignorance due to the fact that his hair looked like a black mop. Draped over his face. I imagined what his expression would be and smiled into his fringe. Backing out of the taxi, I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and rang Maisy to see how long she would be, I couldn't wait.
I headed up the stairs, pressing my phone against my ear, trying to surpress any noise that might escape. I leaned against the railing with my suitcase as she suddenly picked up. "Hello?" "Hi. Where are you?" I questioned in an excited tone. "I'm on the top of the steps at the station" I looked up and saw Emily standing on the steps in which I just ignored and thought it might be a coincidence. I grabbed my tickets out of my bag and slowly walked past her, hanging up the phone. "Hi" she said abruptly, shoving my arm out of the way, knocking my tickets onto the floor. "What do you want? Apart from creating drama between me and Maisy" I said confidently, knowing how right I was. "Oh I'm here for the trip to London" to which I didn't know how to respond. "Yep, I was pretending to be Maisy the whole time, but hey who cares? If Maisy doesn't know, then you will always be overlooked by her and this Max situation, so I guess it never got sorted"
I backed away from her, getting closer to the train track and gave her a glaring look. I knew she wanted to say something else but I wouldn't let her. I should've known what she's like. I turned my back to ignore her and to walk home. I felt the ground slip beneath me as she grasped hold of my shoulder and pushed me with force, onto the tracks. She pinned me down tightly against her body and said "you should've never messed with Maisy or you should've seen something coming"
I couldn't say anything due to the fact that I had nothing to say. I looked to my right as I heard her mumble words into my left ear and saw the train barriers come down to stop the cars from going onto the track. The lights flashed red in the back of my eyes as I saw Emily run off. I was paralysed. I couldn't move. I looked up to the sky and then to my left. The beams lit up, from the train as it sped faster and faster coming towards me, I looked at her face and acknowledged the train coming towards me.. I stared at her and thought to myself 'Liars, that's what they really are'
