When Reese woke up the next day, there was still nobody other than herself in the room. Groaning, she turned to her side and slammed down on the button on her alarm clock. She peeked at the blinking time, 7:28, she exactly thirty-two minutes to shower, brush her teeth, and eat breakfast before her first class starts.
Jumping out of her bed, Reese scrambled through the suitcases she hadn't yet unpacked and pulled out her other pair of uniforms that the Academy has assigned and grabbed the shampoo and body wash she had placed on the table the day before. She paused, studying the white bottle of conditioner her sister had insisted her to bring before grabbing that too.
Slamming the bathroom door shut behind her with a shoulder, Reese turned on the water as hot as she can stand and shucked off her sleeping clothes, which consisted of one of Max's old t-shirts and pajamas bottoms that her dad had given her for her birthday, leaving them in a pile on the tiled floor. Having showered faster than she can run a mile (the proud achievement of five minutes and forty-six seconds), Reese jumped out of the shower, nearly slipping on the floor, and pulled on her uniform. Within a few minutes, she had brushed her teeth and was grabbing her bag as she ran out of the door.
Slamming through the halls, Reese followed the signs leading to the dining hall (Angelica was right, despite the fact the halls of Paramount Academy wind around like a maze, it was pretty easy to navigate). Skidding to the stop next to the wide entrance, Reese nearly ran into a body coming out of the room.
"Watch it!" The girl who Reese recognized to be Hanna, hissed, shoving Reese to the side before storming off.
Reese stared after her, a little bewildered, before a hand clapped onto her shoulder, "Hey buddy," It was Jojo, his hair rumpled from sleep and wearing a green and black sweatshirt that must be hastily thrown on before he left his room earlier.
"Hey," Reese greeted, tossing one more look at Hanna's retreating figure before following Jojo into the dining hall.
"What were you looking at?" Jojo inquired, yawning as they each picked up a plate from the stack, there was hardly anyone in the line, probably because it was already 7:46.
"Nothing," Reese said absently, picking up a muffin before asking, "I thought we have to be in uniform to leave the dorms?"
Jojo shrugged, dropping a stack of pancakes onto his own plate and drizzling an entire lake of syrup on top, "That's a rule only newbies follow, they worry too much," He then glanced at Reese's ironed uniform, "Oh, you're a newbie, I almost forgot."
"It's okay," Reese said, grabbing a glass that was prefilled with milk before heading to the cashier, Jojo trailing after her.
"Hey Giselle," Reese greeted the woman, who still didn't even bat an eyelash.
"$6.78," She said.
Reese swiped her card before heading over the corner of the room, plopping down on a seat before gathering a napkin and a fork. When she got back, Jojo was already there, stuffing a mouthful of scrambled eggs into his mouth.
