"Where's Percy?"

Whispers flooded the dining pavilion as everyone wondered where the son of Poseidon was. Missing again? Gods no. Overslept? Unlikely.

Nobody thought that Percy would be on his bed having a complete mental breakdown, not even his girlfriend.

Annabeth was worried, but Mr. D refused to dismiss her until the end of breakfast. She was more like terrified. She'd lost Percy once, and it had been the worst time of her life. She spent everyday wondering if her boyfriend was still alive, if she'd ever lay eyes on his goofy smile one more time.

"Dionysus," Chiron warned. "Remember what happened last time."

The camp director sighed,

"Alright Annabelle, hurry it up."

"It's Annabeth, you pasty assed-"

"Just go Annabeth, dear." Chiron sent her a look that clearly meant shut up, dumbass.

She rushed over to the Poseidon cabin, attempting to pace her breathing. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.

He'll be in there, she reassured herself, he's still there, he promised..

The barrack was still the same, a low-stoned grey building with seashells embedded in the rock. It was beautiful, just like Percy.

Annabeth knocked on the wooden door, and it creaked open. She pushed the ajar door fully open, and almost had a panic attack.

Nobody was there.

Then she heard the sobbing. Heart-breaking cries of despair, hiccups in between, and the loud echo of a slashing knife. The noises were coming straight from behind the closet.

"Percy?" she called out.

No response.

Annabeth knew he was in there, obviously. She just felt that a person would like a notice before someone barged in.

With no warning that time, she ran into the closet, and embraced her boyfriend. A bloody razor lay beside him, and Annabeth was truly shocked.

She knew Percy was going through a rough patch. He didn't do very much, no smiling or laughing, even teasing.

"What's wrong?" She asked firmly, hugging him close.

"I-I can't d-do it anym-more!" he hiccuped.

"That's not an answer! Why Percy?" she asked, distraught.

"B-because I-I hate it!" Percy yelled, clutching his forehead.

His tears soaked her shirt, the crimson blood from the knife smeared all over her hands. But that was the last thing she worried about.

"Perseus Jackson if you killed yourself do you know what I would do? What any of us would do?" she tried to stay calm, but Annabeth herself felt like crying, "I would lose a piece of me. My heart would never be complete. Percy, I love you so much and your death would be my death."

He was quiet for a while. The two of them in each other's embrace, sitting on the carpeted black floor of the closet in the Poseidon cabin, not saying a word.

Dirty laundry and a rosy razor strewn around, like everything was normal with one odd one out.

"I'm sorry Annabeth," Percy whispered as though he might begin to cry again. "I love you too."

His breathing finally steadied, and the two got up from the floor. Annabeth picked up the weapon and tossed it in the trash,

"Never again, promise?"

"I promise."

She smiled, and brushed a stray black hair from his tear-streaked face. Percy looked tired and in so much pain, yet she still didn't understand why he wanted to end his life. Annabeth couldn't help but believe it was all her fault.

"You're a slut," she grinned.

Percy have her a half smile, "You're a hoe."

"That's my Percy."

***

"Chiron, I'm worried about him." Annabeth told her mentor.

The old centaur sighed, "My dear, Percy has been through quite a lot in his seventeen years. He may have cracked under all the pressure."

"But what if he does it again? A promise is just words you know."

"Not to him, Annabeth. You are the only person who could've stopped him from doing that."

She didn't believe that. There was Chiron himself, Percy's mom, Paul, his soon to be younger sister, and all the campers.

"I know you don't believe it now-" Chiron seemed to read her mind. "-but Annabeth, you're the most important person in his life."
