the act of loving the one who loves you; a love returned in full"Maybe I shouldn't go over to Gabe's." I thought out loud as I paced around my room. "It'll be awkward because how do I know if he was gonna say he wanted to end things before Robert came by."
"I swear on everything Holy if you don't go talk to Gabe about what happened." Willow opened YouTube up on the computer. "I'll delete your channel."
"Why?" I threw my hands up and grabbed a pair of flats from the shoe pile.
"Because it's the only threat I know that works with you." She smiled and waved me bye as I left.
Sisters can be such a damn pain. It was a quick walk to the Howard house, and nearly every step, I tried to talk myself out of it. What if he really did want to end it? I could be making a colossal fool of myself and possibly lose one of my closest friends.
"If no one answers, I'll go home and tell Willow he did want to end things," I muttered under my breath as I walked up to their driveway. "If someone answers and it's not Gabe, I'll ask if he's home and if he isn't, then Plan A. If he is then... I'll ask him about the book recs."
Once I had my plans, I knocked on the front door and waited for someone to open the door. I waited for about a minute or so before deciding no one was home and started to walk back home. A part of me is glad no one is home, but another part is somewhat sad.
"Morning, Soap." Cam's voice made me turn back around. "Surprised you didn't spend the night."
"I had editing to do for today's video." I rolled my eyes at his suggestive tone and walked back to the door. "Is-"
"Gabe home? Yeah." He moved back to let me in. "Gabe's in his room like always."
"You going somewhere?" I asked him when he grabbed his keys, wallet, and a notebook.
"Yeah, gotta drop something off at the bakery for Mom." He nodded and headed out. "I'll be back soon!"
"Okay." I closed the door behind him and took a deep breath to collect myself before going to Gabe's room.
"Hey." I knocked on his doorframe, which made him look up from his book; confusion clouded his face when he saw me. "I wan-"
"What are you doing here, Soph?" He closed his book and tossed it to the empty half of his bed.
"I wanted to talk to you about last night." I tried to be casual about it by shrugging.
Gabe stood up from his bed and walked towards his window, towards the opposite side of the room from me. "I thought you were gonna spend the day with your family."
"No, that was yesterday." I shook my head and stepped into the room. "Ariel took up running around today out of boredom. Can we talk about last night?"
"Rob didn't ask me if he could kiss me." I didn't wait for him to answer my question because I need to tell him about everything. "Which reminds me, I'm sorry for not asking to kiss you either the first time way back. It was rude not to."
Gabe just raised his eyebrows in response as he sat on his windowsill. "It's fine; I did tell you that you could kiss me if you wanted to."
"Right." I nodded slowly and rubbed my palms together in hopes of drying them. "I... I don't like Rob. Not at all, and we were friends, and I have a fear of abandonment, so when someone said to him, and I would make a cute couple, uh, I latched onto that? I thought I felt weird around him because I had a crush on him not because I disliked him."
