Prologue
“Mom, what does a galaxy look like?”
Her pale and dried lips turned into a smile.
“It’s beautiful.” She said gathering all her remaining strength just to give an answer to a 5-year-old me.
“Really???” and my eyes twinkled in amazement and curiosity.
My mom always told me, I have eyes that sparkle like the stars. She had always adore it and it was her favorite part of me.
‘It gives me hope’ she said, as she lay lifelessly on the white bed.
Back then, I didn’t know what she meant about having that hope. I didn’t know how much it means to her to have that ‘hope’. I didn’t know how she was slowly dying.
I was only a child.
There are so many things I didn’t understand.
So many things I didn’t know…
So many things I didn’t see….
And I was curious, what does a galaxy look like?
I have heard a lot of fancy description about the object they call ‘galaxy’. But never in my life have I seen it. It was the thing that made me curious ever since I was a child. It was the thing that started my dreams and goals.
“My daughter, one day…. you’ll see the galaxy. And you will know…..how beautiful it is.” And the machine goes…
*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP*
It was the moment I lost my mother….
It was also the moment I told myself…
I’m going to see the galaxy. And mom….
I’ll tell you how beautiful it is.
