~Phil's POV~
Time seemed to fly by when Peej and Chris came. Two hours had passed, and none of us had even noticed. I was happy when they left though. It's not that I don't like them or anything, it's just that I like my alone time with Dan. I love savoring every minute of it. I brush my fringe to the left, then I look myself over in the mirror before I decide I'm ready to go into town. When I walk out into the living room, Dan is sitting there with his eyes locked onto the screen. Somehow he snaps out of his daze and turns around when I come into the room. He looks me up and down before giving me a genuine smile which I return.
"Hot Topic first, then Starbucks?" I ask.
"Phil. Is that even a question?" I laugh and he chuckles, looking down at the floor. I take that moment to look at Dan's adorable dimples, and his long eyelashes. I hate to be so cliché, but he looked angelic that just happened to fall from heaven. I sigh as he grabs his signature black jacket and we head out.
Dan and I walk in a comfortable silence to the shops, taking in the outside world as if we were never going to see it again. Which is probably true.
We make our stop at Hot Topic, which is definitely one of Dan's favorite stores. I take notice as his eyes light up when he walks in, almost as if he were at home. And wearing as much black as he did, he fit right in.
"Hey Dan, what's going on my man?" Lily asked coming out from the stock room with a new stack of Panic! At The Disco shirts in hand. Like I said. His second home.
"Nothing much. Phil and I just wanted to check to see if there was any new cool stuff." he replied gesturing to me. I waved to her and she returned it.
"Radical. Oh and Dan, there's new Muse merch in the back." she took a step back as he mumbled a goodbye and speed walked over to where Lily had pointed. "So what are you and your boyfriend really doing here?" she asked with a Philip don't fucking bullshit me expression adorning her pixie like face.
"He's not my boyfriend. Even though that would be a favorable outcome of mine." she smiled as if I had just told her that he and I were getting married. I quickly transitioned to the point of this whole conversation. "And I'm just looking to buy some pre-birthday items." I said quietly, just in case Dan decided to linger around.
"Oh yea that's right! Its 2 weeks from now isn't it?"
"Yea it is. We're having a little party at our place, so you can come if you'd like. I think he would appreciate it." we both turned to look at him and quietly giggled as he hid things he really like behind T-shirt stacks.
"Hey Dan! Don't go around creating more work for me!" he jumped at the sound of Lily's voice. His whole face was red with embarrassment as he turned to us and waved a little. He walked over to us, avoiding eye contact with other customers.
"Thanks Lily! Now the whole store is staring at me." he said with sarcasm dripping off every word.
"Oh please Dan. It was all my pleasure. I know how much you love attention." she shot back with a child like grin on her face.
"Phil I'm thirsty. Let's go to Starbucks now. Bye Lily!" he called over his shoulder as he slowly began to walk out.
"Bye Dan!" she replied. She looked over to me and whispered, "So I'll be at the party. Just text me all the details and stuff."
"Will do." I said. Dan had become impatient and walked over and took my hand in his, then started to walk out. I blushed a bright red at the contact and turned to Lily that winked and gave me a thumbs up. Then we walked out.
~Dan's POV~
Phil's hand was warm and comforting in my own. I had been petrified that he was going to let go, but we were still holding hands as we walked to Starbucks. Neither of us let go until we reached the door and Phil held it for me.
"Thank you." I said bashfully, still remembering our hands being interlocked.
"No problem." he smiled at me and his big blue eyes seemed to smile at me too.
I sat down at our usual table by the window and waited for Phil to come back with our drinks. I think he had been talking to Lily about my birthday. Phil's adorable that way, but he's not very good at organizing things behind my back. And truly, I don't really want a party for my birthday. I just want to be with him. A pale hand sets down two drinks at our table and I smile at Phil as he sits down.
"Sorry it took so long. I know you don't like waiting by yourself." he said sincerely.
"Phil, it only took you 2 minutes. I think I can sit alone for that long without panicking. Thank you, however, for being sweet." he looked up at the "sweet" part and his face had a light blush on it.
"Dan, do you wanna finish these at home?" he asked, playing with his fingers.
"Yea sure." I smiled and we walked through the door which he held open like he always does. God, its the little things like that, that really make me fall deeper in love with him.
As we walk, I summon up the courage to reach for his hand. Our fingers brush and I then gently take a hold of his hand and he almost immediately holds mine back. He looks up at me with a small smile on his face, and I return that smile. We walk home in silence again. This time the silence is delicate. Like if either of us say something then the magic holding this moment together will disappear. We reach the apartment building still holding hands. Still holding hands.
