Words are losing their meaning these days. Swear words, profanities are being thrown around everywhere like they mean nothing. In this context, I have observed the overuse of words such as "love" and "forever". Question is, do people nowadays understand the depth these words imply?
The phrase "I love you" is thrown around like a greeting. You "love" every new friend you make within a week or two. Affection is not wrong. But is it really "love" ? Think about it. Love is simple and beautiful, but at the same time, it is an inexplicable concept.
The word "forever".
"Best friends forever", "lovers forever", etc. Who doesnt use these terms these days? I do, too. But forever is not a time, it is an illusion. Forever does not mean a matter of few years, it means a lifetime, and beyond. Forever is not a word, it's a promise.
Penning these thoughts down in the dead of the night, I feel the need to be more careful about my choice of vocabulary when I make promises or claim my affection for someone, because you should say only words you mean. Because one word can make all the difference.
