There was only a few minutes left until the bell rang,everyone was talking,river was drawing quietly in the back next to me "Daniel!" One of the guys yelled I looked up to see Brendan,one of the football players "dude,me and my friends are going out,wanna hang with us?" He asked,my heart started racing,he barely talks to me the hole time I'm here and suddenly now he wants to hang out? "Wish I could but I'm going some were later" I responded trying not to embarrass my self "were you going?" He asked,I look over at river who looked up at me,he shook his head looking a little worried "just some were important" I responded,Brendan nodded his head and went back to talking with the guys,I lean over to river "so,why didn't you want me to tell him we were hanging out?" I whispered,river leaned in next to me "any time my name gets mentioned,it doesn't always turn out well" he said,his voice slowly got weaker "why?" I asked "they don't like me that well,usually when I get brought up into a conversation it's never anything good" he added,I could tell he was slowly getting quieter "I don't understand why they do that,your a really cool guy" I smiled,river smirked trying not to laugh,soon enough the bell rang and everyone pilled there way out,me and river usually wait until everyone leaves so we don't get trampled,I grab my stuff getting up to leave "you coming?" I asked "almost done" he smiled writing fast in his book "what's the date?" He asked "it's the 5th" I said turning to walk out "got it" He said quickly grabbing his stuff jumping out of his chair.
I began to walk out when i heard a yell and felt a slight tap on my...my butt? And then a loud smack to the ground,I could feel my face turning red,I turn to see river facing the ground with a book sticking out from the side "a-are you okay?" I asked helping him up "yeah,that hurt..." He said rubbing his head "did you...t-touch my butt?" I asked putting my hand in the pocket were I was touched "did I?" He asked "I think you did" I said "I'm sorry,I thought I just hit your leg" he added picking up the stuff he dropped,why does he seem so chill about it? He touched my BUTT. "It's fine,c'mon,I got to go pick up Aaron and drop him off,after that we can go" I smiled trying to play it cool "got it" he said as we walked out "i don't understand how you can be so chill all the time" I laughed as we were walking to Aaron's class "what do you mean?" He smirked "um,I don't know,maybe it's cause you touched my butt" I smiled,river couldn't help but laugh "i don't understand how you can be so positive all the time" he laughed "come to think of it not once I've ever seen you mad,or sad,or even a little irritated" he added "what can I say,I'm just a happy guy" I smiled as we walked our way to the elementary.

After dropping Aaron off,we drove out to the arcade,river showing me the way. River sat quietly staring out the window at the dark clouds in the sky,I had to break the silence and lighten the mood "so,not the best day to go out is it?" I smiled,he looked away from the sky snapping back smiling "y-yeah" he stuttered "it's going to be fine,not a little rain will stop us" I replied "yeah,r-rain" he laughed nervously.Soon enough we made it to this small arcade that sat between several buildings "wow" I smiled getting out "yeah,this arcade's been here for years" river smiled getting out,clouds began to fill the sky "that doesn't look good" river said as we walked in. The arcade was mostly empty with a few kids around,felt a little weird being the oldest people there,most of the kids consisted of 10 year olds but we didn't care "you know this place better than I do,what should we do first?" I asked "this way" he said grabbing my hand pulling me to a two player pacman game "Dude I love playing pacman!" I smiled as we began to play,river was pretty good at the game and ended up beating me "hey your pretty good" river smiled "you to!" I laughed "I come here a lot in my free time,I've gotin' pretty good at most of these games" he smiled scratching his head nervously "I can see,so what's next?" I asked "oh this way!" he said grabbing my hand again. He led me around the arcade to a one of those basket ball shooting games "I'm not a fan of basket ball but this is pretty fun" he smiled putting money in. "You can go first" I smiled "you sure?" He asked,I nodded my head as the game started,he began shooting missing most of them "here,let me help" I said putting my arms around his holding the ball,I set his arms up just right shooting the ball "and just like that" I smiled as the ball went in "oh,t-thanks" he laughed nervously. suddenly thunder struck filling the void,it was quiet but noticeable,river slightly gasped looking around "are you okay?" I asked "y-yeah" he said stepping back. he seemed really nervous,I feel like I had to help him some how "so...on the way here I thought I saw an ice cream shop" I said trying to catch his attention "oh yeah,there's one not far from here" he smiled "we should go" I smiled as we started walking to the exit,I looking out side it looks like it was getting pretty bad,rain was poring down and the sky was filled with clouds "looks like were going to have to run for it" I said looking out,river but his hood over his head nodding at me,we open the sorts and started to run,we were only a few feet away from the car when a loud boom filled the sky,I heard a small yell as I felt rive grab on to me I turned to see him holding on to me with his head on my shoulder come on,in the car!" I yelled helping him in running around. River took his hood of putting his head down "river?" I asked in a soft voice,he didn't answer me,it got quiet. Thunder stuck again louder,river flinched gasping then putting his head down further,I need to help him. I reached into the back grabbing some head phones "here this will help" I said handing them to him "we should probably head back before it gets worse,river slightly nodded as I began to drive,I looked over to see river beginning to smiled again,I really liked the fact that he was feeling better "thank you" he smiled,I stopped n just starred at him "your welcome" I smiled "to bad we didn't get to stay that long" I laughed,he nodded his head smiling,it was quiet the rest of the way back,It was actually nice,river listen to music looking down as I drove,he seemed so happy.
When we made it back to rivers house we quickly ran inside "oh thank god your back you had me worried" she smiled walking into the kitchen "looks like you won't be going home anytime soon" she said looking out side the window "yeah" I laughed "well I'll get out of y'all's hair" she said walking off "c'mon" river said grabbing my hand,it caught me off gard a little bit,he took me to the living room were we sat down,he took the head phones off putting them around his neck "t-thanks again" river stuttered "oh,it's no problem" I smiled "I know it's stupid,I shouldn't be afraid of thunder– I-it's just—"hey" I said cutting him off he looked up at me,his eyes began to fill with tears "don't worry about it,it's okay" I added. He smiled slightly laughing whipping his eye,thunder stuck again but this time it was much quieter "put your head phones back on" I said as he did,we sat quietly watching tv as the storm got worse. Suddenly the power went out shutting everything off "D-Danny" river said hugging my arm "it's okay" I said grabbing his hand "it's going be okay" I smiled looking at him trying to calm him down,his eyes shined from the outside light,his eyes always shined in any lighting "close your eyes,it will help" I said,he nodded his head closing his eyes. While river was calming down I grabbed my phone calling my mom "hey mom,I'm staying at rivers house right now,the storms are really bad and I don't think I can come home just yet" I said quietly "at least your okay" she replied. Suddenly I felt something on my shoulder,I turn to see river with his head leaning on me sleeping "I got to go mom b-bye" I said hanging up,rivers was passed out on my arm,he looked so peaceful. After a while I ended up falling asleep leaning on him...it was nice.

The next day I woke up as the sun was rising,I looked at the time to see it was 6:00. River was still asleep but this time his head was on my...my lap. I felt my heart starting to rase,I didn't want to wake him up but...it's nerve raking...
I tried moving to get my phone out of my pocket trying not to wake him up but I ended up doing so. Rivers eyes fluttered open looking up at me,I nervously smiled waving at him. He shot up staring at me "h-hi" I smiled "hey" he said rubbing his eye "how long have you been up?" He asked "not long" I replied. It got quiet again "th-thanks" river said "what?" I asked "thanks for helping me,it's been a long time since I've slept that well during a storm" he smiled "it's no problem" I smiled "it's the least I can do" I added,he quietly laughed scratching his chin "so...were you watching me sleep?" River asked,my face turned red,river laughed letting out a quiet snort,I laughed as well. We spent that morning talking and just enjoying each other's company...
