Chapter 5 finding love on the net
Mandy and Leigh had invited me to come over to Mandy's house she got an idea that we could have a chat with Lucky on the net that night. "Email him and tell him that you have a friend who is hooked on the internet and if he wanted to to find a friend who has one and to come on and chat with you" Mandy said. "Cool" I replied.
I began typing to him.
To: Lucky
Subject: Hi
I have an odd request. A friend of mine is hooked up to the internet, and she invited me to her house on Saturady night, if you have access to the internet also, I thought maybe you could go online and we could talk. I know it's weird to have a conversation this way but as you probably figured out I can get tonuge tied in person. There are so many things I want to say to you, and Im afraid that right now this is the only way I can talk.

Until Saturday Night

I had finally sent the email and us three just sat around and chilled that day.
Saturday Evening.
Mandy, Leigh and I just had gotten in her room and turned on the computer we all were having fun chating about guys and such like we use to. We logged on the net and went into a chat room. To my surprise Lucky was on.
Lucky: Hi Nica!
Nica: Hi I'm glad you could make it.
Lucky: Me to.
Nica: It's weird writing to you, then getting to read your response right away.
Lucky: I know. This is going to take some getting use to but I've got all night.
Nica: So do I. My best friends does this alot, and they told me about his cool thing they do when chatting with someone online. They pretend they're actually going some were.
Lucky: You mean imaginary date?
Nica: Sort of. Sounds weird huh??
Lucky: Arew you afraid of hights?"
Nica: No what do you have in mind?
Lucky: I thought we could go to the top of a rocdky bluff near the ocean and dance under the stars.
Nica: Sounds great! How should I dress formal of Casual??
Lucky: Sine I'm wearing a tux, I hope your in the mood to dress up
Nica: Its just so happens that i'm wearing a black velvet evening gown with dangling rhineston carrigns.
Lucky: Good, then you wont be underdressed.
Nica: There's only one problem, though how am I suppose to climb to the top of a rocky bluff in four-inch heels?
Lucky: Good question I dont want to ruin my tux either because its a rental. I guess we'll just have to take my helicopter to the top.......okay, its all set C'mon hop in.
I was totally amazed at how easy it was and how I was getting along with him. The nerousness I'd been feeling was replaced by a warm wave of calm that passed suddlenly I was daring and Free. Instead of a borning high school student typing at a computer I was embarking on a romantic adventure, taking risks.
Luck: Look down over the edge of the bluff do you see the waves crashing below??
Nica: The moon's reflection masked the water look slivery. The sky is so clear, I can see thousands of stars.
Lucky: Do you like this spot??
Nica: It's perfect
Lucky: Now that we've found the prefect spot and the perfect night would you like to dance??
Nica: Id love to
Our Shared dream was vidily laid out before me. I imagined JC as clearly as if he werer standing beside me---his balc tuxedo matching his glsossy dark hair, the glow of the moon shinning in his eyes the tender way he took my hand in his as we danced under the stars. We keep on talking and finally I started asking him questions.
Nica: I have a question for you.
Lucky: What is it??"
Nica: If you life was like a videotape, and you could erase or rewind, or fast-forward through any part of it what would you do??
Lucky: Id take the video tape out of the VCR and put in on the shelf untouched.
Nica: You wouldnt do anything?
Lucky: Not a thing
Nica: There must be something you've done or said in the past that you wished hadn't done.
Lucky: Yes, but I also think I did the best I could at the time. I firmly believe that people do what they can, and that given the chance they would end up making the same mistakes all over again
Nica: Arent there things you never did you wish you had done??
Lucky: I dont believe in regret. You only get one shot so you better get it right the first time.
Nica: Is it better to take risks??
Lucky: Most of the time
Nica: Then i'm about to take a risk
Lucky: What is it??
Nica: Will you go to the homecoming dance with me??
My heart just about stopped as I waited for his response. I didnt know where I'd gotten the courage to ask him--it was if someone else had taken over and was typing foer me. I was relieved that the question was finally out in the open, but I was terrified to find out the answer.
Lucky: You want to meet in person??
Nica: Sure dont you??
Lucky: Well yeah its just that....this is so much fun there's so much mystery to it.
Nica: The thing is I feel closer to you then to almost anyone else I know but we've never even seen each other Sometimes I wonder if you're an imagianry friend i've made up in my head
Lucky: Do you think we'd get along if we meet face to face??
Nica: WHy wouldnt we?? unless things you wrote weren't true
LUcky: I've never lied to you about anything have you??
Nica: Never see we'd have to get along
LUcky: Great! let's go to teh homecoming dance together
Nica: Maybe we could get together tommorrow
Lucky: If its' all right with you let's not meet until the dance it would be more romantic
Nica: So we shouldnt even talk to each other in school
Lucky: How can we if we keep our real names secret??
Nica: I hate to tell you this but I know who you really are I figured it out a long time ago
Lucky: Actually I figured out who you were to
Nica: Can we aleast keep writing?? to each other??
Lucky: Sure
We finally keep on writing until it was past midnight. Both of us logged off because we were to tired and we had things to do the next day.
