solàna cooper
A whole two months has passed andSolàna can tell there's something different about herself. She's happier or something.
"Solàna? You're staring off into space again." Myla warned.
Solàna cursed at herself. "Sorry." She carefully places the plates down and arranges the utensils for dinner.
"What's wrong?" Myla asks. The older sister placed a hot pan of rice in front of them.
"Huh?"Solàna frowns.
"What's wrong? Lately you've been out of it and unfocused." Myla watchesSolàna's face carefully, searching for any indicator of a lie.
"Nothing is wrong, sis. Pray so we can hurry and eat. I'm starving."Solàna waved off the topic and Myla hummed.
"Father in Heaven, Thank you for the food. Allow the nutrition to benefit our bodies. Help us to be Holy and honest. In your name, Amen."
The sisters eat in a comfortable silence beforeSolàna's phone rings. It's Namjoon.\
Solàna smiles. "Give me a moment. I'll be right back." She doesn't wait for a responsefrom Myla because she rushes away,
"Hey Namjoon."
"Good evening, Lana. I called you early because I won't have time to call you later on."
"No problem. Don't even worry about it. How's your day going so far?"
Namjoon sighs. "It's only eight and I am mentally exhausted. What about you?"
"Just spending time with my sister. She made dinner tonight."
"Maybe I'll let you go. Spend time with your sister. Family is important." Namjoon sounds almost, regretful.
Solàna rolls her eyes. "You say that but you haven't mentioned any of your family. Only your friends."
Namjoon is silent for a moment. "I can't live with my family like you do. Take advantage of it."
There was a click.
He hung up on her. For the first time.
Solàna spends a moment staring at her phone in disbelief. She fights the urge to call Namjoon back to argue. InsteadSolàna turns around and goes back to the dinner table where she would only say two words before excusing herself to her room.
