Simon lied in his supposedly comfortable double bed early in the early hours of the morning. He tried to surpress the horrible pain he was being exposed to in his abdomen. Before his busy mother left in the morning for work, she had given him some pain medication and told that him he was more than likely suffering from a stomach bug and that he could stay home from school. seeing as it was Friday, most kids his age would be made happier with the thought of having an extended weekend.

But sadly not Simon.

No matter what he did, the pain didn't lessen. He tried leaning forward on the bed and taking deep breaths or curling up into the foetal position but the pain seemed to have taken a liking to Simon's stomach cavity.

He looked around his medium sized room. There was enough room for a shelf and a nightstand in front of his bed for a TV and a closet, but not much else. But to Simon, it was all he needed, he didn't much to make him happy and what he had made him happy. It also made his mother's purse very happy too.

Trying to find to find something that could him of the pain, even for a little while, Simon looked over at his shelf. On the bottom shelf, he caught a glimpse of something that he had forgotten about a very long time ago...

A bright neon green Gameboy Color, with an unmistakable red cartridge of Pokemon Red in the back.

He moved slowly over to the shelf and carefully bent down to get it, so as to not upset his aching stomach anymore than it was.

This brings back so many memories, Simon thought as he held the small device in his hands. It seemed so much bigger when I was a little kid. Booting it up, he cringed at the horrible and childish names he had given to party and his character. Not long after, he was sucked into the world he had fallen hard into as a kid, losing himself in the game.

After about an hour of playing, he felt the pain return. In the short time, the pain seemed to have died down and he had almost completely forgotten about it. But this time he had a major urgency to use the toilet.

uh oh, Simon thought in worry as he quickly made his way to the nearby bathroom. Not wasting a second, he raced into the bathroom and sat onto the porcelain toilet. Not a second later, he felt what could have easily been his entire body's organs falling into the bowl. He sat there wide eyed at the horrendous noises that were being made. All he could do was sit there playing his game and praying that it was enough to block out the noise.

After about five minutes, it had finally subsided and he thought he could go back to lying on his bed. He looked over to where the toilet paper was, or better yet, where it should have been, and seen that there was none in sight. Feeling his heart race, he looked all around the small bathroom and realized there was none to be seen.

With a defeated sigh, Simon decided to go back to playing his game and wait for his mother to return from work to bring him some toilet paper, but he was met with another saddening revelation. In his search for the toilet paper, the console had died. This is not how I thought bringing back my childhood days would turn out like, he thought to himself as he sat on the bowl contemplating how the heck this whole scenario could've happened.

So Simon spent the next few hours slowly reading labels of random bottles and objects he could reach until his mother arrived home from work. He had never felt more relieved to have her back home and on the bright side, the pain had stopped entirely in his stomach. Only one thought ran through his mind after that...
