Chapter 2
Olivia’s P.O.V
I called my mom as I was on my way to the party. I really wanted to know who my dad is. She told me she rather talk about it in person, so since I had the address for the party I took a detour by our house first.
“Hey mom.” I said as I walked into the house.
“Hi sweetie. How was the race?” She asked.
“I tied with the ‘king’ of street racing.”
“That’s cool.”
“Mom, I really want to know about my dad. I met this guy who said he could help. He knew you when you were a teen.”
“Hold on a minute. I have some stuff I want to show you.”
I sat at the table for a few minutes, when she came back with a small box and sat it in front of me.
“Open it,” she said. I opened it to reveal a box full of pictures. I tool a few in my hands to look at them better. It was the man from the race, well a younger version of him anyway.
“This is your dad. He was my first everything. I regret not telling him about you. Don’t ever think that I am ashamed of you.” My mom said almost in tears.”
“I met him.”
“What??”
“He’s the guy that I tied with at the race.” I said picking up my keys and walking out the door.
“Where are you going?”
“House party.”
I got in my car and drove off. I wasn’t mad at my mom; I just really wanted to get to know my daddy.
I pulled up to his house and walked up to the front door and just walked in. I seen several people from the race, but I was searching for one person in particular. Finally, I spotted him on the back porch, I walked up to him before I spoke to him.
“Hey Dom.”
“Hey Olivia.”
“Can we talk in private for a minute?”
“Yeah.” He walked me over towards the back of the property.
“So, I talked to my mom and she showed me a picture of my dad.”
“Really, who is he?”
“I don’t know how to say this, but you are my dad Dom.”
“I kind of thought that I was your dad, when you told me the age she had you.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“It was up to your mom to tell you about me.”
“She was scared to tell you about me.”
“Why?”
“She didn’t know how you would react and your racing career was just starting, she didn’t want to get in the way of your dreams.”
“I wouldn’t have cared about my dreams; you would have been my dreams if I had known. I missed out of nineteen years of your life.”
“I know. I missed out on nineteen years of having a dad.”
“Well, we have time to make up for it now.”
“Yeah we do. Is it okay if I crash here tonight after the party?”
“Of course, just don’t drink too much. I’m not going to tell you not to drink; I was your age once.”
“Thanks Dom.”
I walked over to a bucket of ice cold beers and grabbed a Corona out of it.
“Hey cutie.” The cute scrawny dude from the race said.
“Hey.”
“You’re the girl that tied with Dom.”
“Yes I am, my name’s Olivia by the way.”
“I’m Jesse, nice to meet you.”
“You too.”
“Did you come to the party alone?”
“Yes I did. Did you?”
“Yeah, but I live here so I didn’t really come to the party.” He laughed.
