Chapter 27

Raine

I love my birthday. It will finally be the time to have fun and not get blamed. A day of no judgement and I get to share it with my brother. I had to dress up a little bit today. I put on a dark green, long sleeved crop top, ripped jeans and tied a dark green plaid around my waist. I wandered down the stairs.

Knight sat beside the counter as Dad was cooking. He looked up.

"Mornin' sunshine. Happy Birthday! I made chocolate waffles." I smiled and sat beside Knight. He looked up and pointed to his shirt. It read, 'Ladies, can you make my birthday wish come true?' I laughed as Dad put waffles in front of me. He looked up and gave me sad eyes.

"What got you so down?" He sighed.

"No playing soccer today. You can tell coach that you can't play another day though. Okay?" I smiled at him. He knows me so well already and he understands that soccer is my life. He's sad because he's worried it'll upset me.

"Don't worry. I guess one good thing got to go for another." He smiled and looked at the clock. He looked at us.

"Go to school or you are going to be late!" He pushed us out the door. What's got him in a rush?

We got to school and I hopped off my bike. Arms wrapped around my stomach and gently held me.

"Hey baby" I turned around and kissed Knife gently on the lips. "How are you feeling today?" I glared at him.

"Are you forgetting something?" He gave me a playful smile.

"No. I don't think so. I don't possibly know what I could have forgotten." I playfully slapped his arm. "Happy Birthday Beautiful." I wrapped my arms around his neck and we kissed some more. Someone cleared their throats behind us. We turned around.

Knight stood behind us. "Sorry to interrupt but we need to head to class." Knife grabbed my backpack and we took off to CS.

We walked into the room a few minutes after the bell. All eyes turned to us. Mr Beetle wasn't teaching today. We had a sub. Great first impression. The teacher turned to look at us and what I see makes me smile.

"Raine, Knife, Knight good to see ya."John waved at us as we passed him. "Happy Birthday twins!" I gave a fist pump. That's when I noticed the shiny jewel on his left ring finger. I grabbed his hand and looked at him. He smiled. "He did it yesterday evening." I hugged him.

"Finally!" The four of us laughed as everyone looked confused. We wandered to our seats. Knife looked at John.

"Two things. One, welcome to the family! And second what are we up to today John." John rolled his eyes and smiled.

"In here you have to call me Mr. Carr. It's mandatory. And let's get started." Halfway through class, I nudged Knife.

"I think they should fire Mr. Beetle and hire John. He's less sexist and is better at teaching it." Knife smiled. Knight looked up from beside me.

"I agree. He's also less serious. But has anyone else noticed he looks towards us a lot?" Knife smirked as I tried to hold in a laugh. Oh, we noticed. John was checking out Knight whenever he could get a chance. John spoke up just in time.

"Tweedle dee, Tweedle dum and pipsqueak." We looked at him and chuckles fluttered across the room. "Do you mind? I'm trying to teach." Knight smiled.

"Sorry Mr. Carr soon to be Mr. Wild." John rolled his eyes and got back to teaching.
