Edalyn's POV

I glided through the sky, the beams streaking against the clear night and and the cool air whipping around me.
It's been about a month and a half since I arrived in queens. Since then a lot has happened; I aced a math test, we built Neds star destroyer and Peter and I came up with a rounds system.
Every other day we would take turns being the vigilante in Queens and on weekends we worked together. Some weekdays we would change it up and work together anyway because it was good company, but most of the time we just stuck to the system. It gave us the opportunity to go out, have fun and work on homework, it worked pretty effectively.
I had just finished my rounds and was heading over to Peters house, or technically, to his window. Ever since I found out he had snuck through my window, it caught on and became a normal thing. After my rounds I'd pop in his window and tell him all about the crime and after his rounds he would sneak through my window and do the same thing. We did it to report and hang out but we also did it to show the other that we were ok.

I was almost to his house when a blue blast interrupted my thoughts. I stopped and my foot beams turned into a platform as I watched the blue smoke disperse.
"What the-"
Two more blasts exploded into the sky and I changed my direction towards the commotion. The only thing that bugged me about my powers was that they were flashy. My default beams were neon blue and lit up the sky, I hadn't figured out a whole lot of different beams yet, I knew different force fields but not beams.
So I decided to land further away from the site and jogged the rest of the way there. Once I got to a small clearing, I was able to make out two figures in the distance.
"Enhance night vision and hearing."
My suit silently obeyed and I could better see the two men. They had large alien tech guns in hand and were hovering over a third man who was on the ground with his hands in the air.
"I swear, I don't have anymore. We lost most of it when Toomes was caught!"
I cocked my head at the familiar name and leaned in to hear more.
"I don't care if you don't have anymore, I want you to tell us who does and where we can find them, if not, you will become our target practice." This mans voice was gruff and threatening.
I wanted to step in but at the same time I didn't want to risk not receiving more information.
"T-there's a cellar. Aberdeen Maryland, they have a base there but I don't know the exact location!"
What were they looking for? Why couldn't they be just a bit more specific?
"Huh," one of the standing men raised his gun, pointing it at the man on the ground
"thanks."
That was my cue.
I shot a sharp frisbee-like beam at the gun and instead of blasting the man on the ground, it hit a nearby tree.
I remember Peter telling me that fights were less scary if you were snarky with your opponent, so I tried it,
"You know, shooting those guns out in the open is not the best idea. Especially when there's neighborhoods nearby."
I inwardly groaned at my own comment. I sounded more like Cap in the school videos rather than a snarky teen.
The two men turned around, raising their guns to me, while the little man ran away. I jumped up into the air and used the suit's beams to bounce in the air, dodging each blue blast. I shot rapid beams to knock them all down, including the running man. Letting one escape could prove to be dangerous.
Once they were down I concentrated a strong, glass beam shield around them, trapping them in a semi-circle.
After I was positive that they were caught, I dropped my arms and walked over to the force field to get them to tell me more information.
They shot at the shield around them but it barely made a crack.
I smirked, this was too easy.
As I walked a sudden and sharp blow hit my back and hurled me to the ground. I shouted in pain and as a burning wound stretched across my back. Clenching my teeth, I turned to see another man with a different gun, recharging it to take me down with another blow. The other three men escaped, without my concentration, the force field had fallen.
I tried to stand but gasped at the pain in my back, the sudden slash was now burning and it felt like my blood was boiling. The new man pulled the trigger again and a red current of ember-like electricity shot towards me. I quickly concentrated enough to create a small shield, but it was too thin. As the fiery current broke threw I turned to jump out of the way but I was too slow and was met with another stab of fire in my side. I tumbled a couple feet and collapsed against the ground.
I took deep breaths to calm myself so I could face them.
I had to face them.
I gathered stamina and shot more beams from the ground at the men around me; however, they countered my attack and blasted the concentrated beacons with their alien tech guns. My vision blurred as I forced myself to stand up. I started to pull a force field around myself but was interrupted by a blue explosion that broke through and sent me flying backwards. I plummeted to the ground and gasped for air. I couldn't move and I didn't try too. Maybe they would just leave me here.
Dust swirled around me, making it hard to see, but to my dismay, three shadows peeled into the rising dust.
"So. A little girl thinks she can take on three of the best gunsmen, The Shocker will get a good laugh out of this." The men laughed and I was just confused
"The shocker?" I said, trying to laugh my fear away, "What a lame name." I grimaced at the laughter that I held back. Right now was a bad time for light hearted amusement.
The men were closing in on me and I was running out of ideas.
The next the I knew one of the gunsmen were flung back. I cocked my head in confusion and tried to focus my vision. The other two men were then met with webs in their faces and also flung in the same direction as the first man.
I saw a motion of red and blue, Peter was here.
Ugh, how embarrassing.
I started to relax until a new green blast catapulted Peter in the air and slammed him against a tree.
If we were going to win this fight, we would need to both be fighting together. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths, trying to concentrate and ignore the searing pain in my back. The only way I can use my powers efficiently is if Im focused.
I opened my eyes again and could see clearly. The original three men were gone but there was one new man holding a smaller alien gun with a belt full of multiple different guns.
I held my side, getting up through the pain, and onto my feet. I glanced over at Peter, he was recovering and getting up as well.
I looked back to the man and created sharp beam blades in my hands, this guy may be good at shooting but that didn't guarantee that he was great at hand-to-hand combat.
I dodged the next couple of green flashes that erupted from his gun and got close enough hit him. He was fast and dodged every swing I tried to land. I jumped into the air and tried to slash his back, but he was faster. He quickly turned while bringing his foot up and kicked me hard in the stomach. I hurtled backwards and skipped like a rock against water, except against concrete instead.
I finally rolled to a stop, my breath was ragged and my whole body was shaking in pain.
Who was this guy?
While I recovered, Peter took him on, shooting webs and flinging rocks at him. Peter was faster than me and dodged all the green flashes like it was no problem.
I started standing up and tried to re-concentrate my energy.
The man quickly changed guns and had a bigger one in his hands now. Peter didn't seem to notice and swung closer to attack.
"Peter! Watch o-"
A purple electric rope flung from the gun and whipped around Peter. It coiled around him like a snake, until the whole rope was wrapped around his body.
He was flung to the ground and his screams were let out into the night sky. The gun was shot again, sending currents of electricity into his body, he yelled out once more in pain.
"no.."
I was surprised by the weakness in my voice, and my heart sank as I realized I couldn't fight him in the state I was in;
but I had to do something.
I narrowed down my options and quickly pinpointed a plan, hoping it'd work.
